SCRAMBLER hood decal set group buy

Just as the sun started sizzling into Lake Michigan.

I was going to put my Scrambler decals on the hood today and started googling - and became more confused the more 81 Scramblers I saw with decals. Which way did the decals come - 'S' nearest the cab or 'S' nearest the front of the jeep? If you take a look at the below google search you will see the decals facing both directions - even on the older scrambler pics that look like they came from a Scrambler owners manual.

Am I missing something? The S is closer to whatever end it has to be based on which side of the Jeep you're looking at, right? You always read left to right, so it just is what it is.

Looking at the left side of the Jeep (hood to the left of you) S closer to the front of the hood.

Looking at the right side of the Jeep (hood to the right of you) S closer to the cowl.

...oops. Disregard that question. I wish I could say I have been drinking but I haven't. I guess getting old has caused me to ask the obvious and over think the simple. ;-)

...My wife and kids say I ask stupid questions all the time. Now I am doing it to you guys. haha

The only unintelligent questions here are the ones not ask. Information: I was told by one of the gentlemen that worked the assembly line, when the "Scrambler" decals were installed at the factory, they were done by hand, not all were in the same place front to back or up & down. I have 2 original paint/decal 1981s and one is 3/4 inch from bottom and the other is almost 2 inches from the bottom.

Hey team. I’m searching some decal threads for my 82.
I found some on eBay and had them shipped. They don’t seem tall enough. Could someone measure a letter for me?
I’m talking about the SCRAMBLER decal on the hood btw.

i can tomorrow when I get down to shop if noone else chips in.

Y’all are awesome. This is great data. If anyone has a chance I would take a height measurement too. Or if someone has it posted somewhere else let me know.

I’m going in Tennessee until next Monday. Remind me then if you still need any measurements.

When I brought my brand new Scrambler home in 1982, I had the Scrambler lettering off within hours. Never liked the hood lettering. However, if I get the hood in just the right light, I can still see the almost imperceptibly darker paint originally covered by the decals. The only letter I could reliably measure this morning was the B.
I get 3 3/8" as the height. It apparently sat on the Jeep dealer's lot in Monticello, UT., long enough to slightly fade the paint on the hood. That probably didn't have to be long with 1982 paint and the intensity of the sun at 7000' altitude.

I'll try to find my NOS lettering at home and measure it. Pretty sure I know where it is. Not sure if it is Scrambler or Renegade but I imagine they are all the same height....but with AMC ya never know.

Well dang my decals measure 2 1/4 wide by 2 7/8 tall. Based on info provided they are too short. If anyone else has some they can measure let me know. Thanks so much team
