Whatever happened to the registry website? It looks like it has not been updated since 2010.

I’m surprised that the site is still up and that no one has been handed the keys. Does anyone know what happened to the guy who was running it?

My belief is it’s functionally irrelevant. There’s never going to be much success to a registry that lives online for any non-collector car without ultra limited numbers. You’ll never have a clue how many aren’t accounted for because their owners never think to look for it and people who have no interest in posting their info.

that’s why we never bothered with trying to replicate it here.

To not do it because there isn’t a huge value in it or the amount of time it would take is one thing but from a statistical analysis point of view eventually you would have enough data model how many are left unaccounted for. The numbers would never be perfect but it could be done. I just don’t see that many people caring that much. It would take hundreds of hours and you would need to tie those hours to some kind of marketing or compensation.

So to sum up: it’s not worth the trouble.

So we agree ?

:D
