Bucket, the 1981 CJ8 frame off.

Fitting up the tank, for the skid. It clears the 14B nicely and should be 38.5 gallons. It will have it's own mount flange to the factory carriage bolts in the back, and we're using the front cross member as well. Skid plate is next.

It's not lower than the shackles, which was a design criteria for me and passes a 2.5" stainless exhaust on both sides.

Installing a HVAC bulkhead under the dual battery tray... making stainless block off plates. I will do a box inside, over the HVAC hoses from the vintage air.

Top's done

Funny, how the one I got with this was one of his... and we didn't catch they took a different bulkhead, so we installed an OEM bulkhead.

I've been in the hospital, but while here, my son and friend fitted up the mounts to the tank and bent up a skid plate.

... and the fuel tank is in. 2019 Corvette sending unit, US Car fuel lock ring and mount by Vaporworx. I can find those fuel pumps almost any where. 38,5 gallons, clears 2.75" dual exhaust.

Now I can use it to lift the Jeep and flip the shackles around so they're installed correctly. ;)

So we're down to little things, like I don't do self tappers and didn't want to drill more holes in my windshield frame.

So I bent up stainless brackets that use the OEM holes for the latches that come with the Gr8tops refurb'd OEM top and put rivet nuts into the windshield frame.

Does anyone have the write up for windshield angle, etc, to install a half hard top?

Windshield angle.png

This is the measurement for the windshield to get a starting point for adjusting the doors and top positioning.

So, because this is a repop, Taiwanese tub, the sides oil can. Just not a fan.

The guy I bought it from bought Gen-Right CNR1100 (steel) uncut corner guards for it, 3 some odd years ago (I always inherit someone else' project and finish 'em). So I bought 'em yesterday, still in the box.

So I am going to put those on... but I am going to bend up square tube to keep the ridge that the flare bolts - as I really like that body line. I mean to get rid of the oil canning on both sides.

Will also build rocker guards that keep that line going, was original a bolt on molding in between the fender and the rear "bed".

All will be silver, with the 81 Scrambler graphics over 'em.

Also, Napa has 20% off and free shipping on Odyssey Performance Battery BCI Group Size 34 792 CCA ODP-AGM34

Made them sort of reasonable.

Made by the same company that makes the Diehard platinum sold at Advanced Auto. No idea if same internally or not.

From what I can tell, not the same.

I also upgraded (per someone here) to the ODY ODXAGM3478 that have 100 more CCA's per battery.

Funny, in that I really can't use the side terminals.

So, been having problems with un-matched seating in my YJ.. I had Bestop vinyl fronts and Bestop denim in the back... Amazon sent me the Vinyl seats when I ordered Denim.

Didn't catch it.

What's the point of this story?

I really wanted leather heated seats and I found some Corbeaus, NIB that bolt in, are black leather and have lumbar support with seat heaters already installed for this CJ8.

Yeah, they're already swapped into my CJ8 and my YJ gets the Denim seats I had, and the Vinyl ones from the YJ get sold off.

So, my water jet cut on the inside of my dimensions and not the outside... so we had to hand file some hard materials.

Dakota Digital stuff is in though. I also didn't have the gauge mount studs, so I used the same hardware that mounts the dash. Won't be as incongruous when mounted.
