Anyone mounted FOX accutune Remote reservoir shocks on their CJ

I recently pulled the trigger on some custom tuned Accutune Fox remote reservoir shocks. Went thru the whole process; spring rates; weights at the front and rear.

Has anyone else mounted these? Haven't figured out if I can leave the reservoir attached on the brackets or will need to mount to the body or fenders/Fox-2.0-Performance-Series-Smoothie-Remote-Reservoir-Shock.jpg

I don't have Fox, but I mounted Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir shocks on my 8. I'll grab some pics for you today.

The fronts I attached to the main shock body. The rear are attached to the frame crossmember.

I kind of figured that might be the case.

Would love to see pics.

This is how mine are mounted but my axles are 65”

Hoping to get these swapped in this week. Kind surprised one pair came with the reservoir brackets and the other a pair didn't. :cautious:

I can get some better pics for you this weekend. I wasn't able to get out to the Jeep, but found a couple wheeling pics that you can see the mounting.

Front - piggyback mount

Rear - the shock is mounted normally and reservoir is mounted to the frame cross member. I believe my aftermarket frame has an extra crossmember, but the factory one could also be used. You could also add a mount pretty easily as it's not like the reservoirs will cause much strain. You can see the hose to the reservoir coming up above and to the right of the tire.

Thanks for sharing. Did you just use self tapping screws to go into the crossmember? Or drill with nutsert?

My cross member is tubular, so I think I used the piggybackhose clamps. Large hoseclamps.

I think you could do the same with mounting the piggyback mounts to a flat cross member with self tapping screws as there is so little weight involved.

Want to hear how you like them

So the arrangement of the top eye to reservoirs on the fronts wasn't what I was expecting. With the OEM mount the hose in on the outboard side (not the front or back). It looks like at full lock I still have 1.5-2" tire clearance....but mounted outboard feels bit wonky... I suppose I could go horizontal and mount on the fender....

Or do I just move the top mount bolt to the front hole and be done with it.

Got the front's installed.

I'll give them credit that all the parts I needed to make them fit were there; even if there was no instructions of guidance. Shocks came with bushings and sleeves installed in them. When I got the bilsteins off; the top shock mount was exactly 5/8" and the metal sleeve was the same 5/8"; no fitting. They came with another bag that had a double post mount bar and another bushing. I pressed the sleeve out of the first bushing; then there was a bunch of slop when slid over the mount. Tested the other bushing and it fit perfect. Pressed the 1st bushing out and the 2nd bushing in and it fit just right.

Definitely ride smoother on the street. I twisted them a little bit firmer but think I went too far. Have to test them on the trail when I get them all mounted. The Bilstein rears always seemed a bit too long. Eager to get the new ones on and then find out if I need some bump stops.

Will probably get the same piggy back mounts for the RR on the rears; looks like they could mount right on top of the shocks...
