Well finally start building

Still here still building. Not as fast as I want but...
Anyway, got paint stripped to see what was hiding underneath. Not to bad had a couple jeep spots to cut and weld in new metal. I found the issues to be where the panels were spot welded together allowing moisture to get in and causing rust. So in most area's I drilled the spot welds. Spread the two panels a smij (screw drive or such) removed any flakey rust between them and treat with metal prep. Then check panel straightness and rewelded spot welds. Then applied rust encapuslator to all seams then applied primer. Next lizard skin sound and thermal. I think I'm going layers on bottom then layers on interior. After the interior I wanted to spray body color (honey brown metallic).Jeep 40.jpg

First off thanks for your thumbs up. Finished seam sealing joints today and gave her a bit of primer. I'm thinking tomorrow will be lizard skin day. The build has OMU springs which should bring about 3" lift. I plan on running 33" tires. It originally had a ranchero suspension with 33" and 1" body lift (which I thought looked pretty good). My problem is I have misplaced ( all the body mount stuff) Ya your right I hid it so good I can't find it. My question is what parts do I need to mount this body back on with a 1" lift and a side question the companies that I find with stainless steel hardware kits are all out of stock.
Thanks

Daystar has a 1” body mount kit. Comes with bolts and washers.

Pics are not to different. The application of sound deadener then ceramic then paint is probably a little over the top but that's my mo. In terms of application ease not bad (like spraying mayonnaise). Since all three components are black it can be a little challenging to verify coverage.
Now if your following down the road and a giant piece of black shit flies out from my jeep it means I need a redo.Jeep 48.jpg

Just a day of trying to get some what organized. My god you get going and forget all the tools you took out. Anyway moving on to inspection of Dana 300 would like to flip body over and place on frame so would like to have this piece installed. Jeep 52.jpg

While I was waiting on some trans and transfer case bearings I thought I would look at the rear frame. I'm not sure what the plans are for this scrambler but just in case it wanted to tow a smallish trailer I figured some reinforcement was needed. I sourced my metal products from used lawn mower blades and some lovely old bed rails. The bumper that came on the scrambler was an after market of some type (nicely made 1/4 " steel heavy sucker) bolts directly to factor holes. And that factory cross piece is a little on the light side with welds that are (let say I could have been the welder). So did some bracing and gussets also purchased a 3/16" rear frame cross member plate from M.O.R.E.
With this reinforcement and OME heavy duty suspension, rear disks plus the mighty 4.2. I feel that 32' triple axle trailer..... :bacon:Jeep 54.jpg

Frame bracing complete and painted. T 176 and Dana 300 rebuilt and mated. Ready to mount in frame. Jeep 58.jpg

Hi folks
Mounted trans/transfer to skid plate. Started working on installing front drive shaft (just a side note I hate u joints). Now when I purchased and drove this jeep 25 years ago it had a Ranchero lift (3" est) shackle reversal kit. And it appears the original front drive shaft. I live in Florida and never really 4 wheeled it much. You can see where I'm going with this. The original driveshaft with a 3" lift and reverse shackles I've read won't work. Nor will the original rear driveshaft. Now I do have to measure some lengths and angles to get more data on what to do / purchase but I was looking for you folks input.
Thanks
