Removal of incorrect brace and first fit last night. Next will be mating the body to frame for final fit before welding prep. Eventually I’ll be done with sheet metal . . .
Update - Classic made it right by immediately shipping a new crossmember support and extra captured nuts for free. I wish I had caught this much earlier, but am now pulling out the brace that was there when the entire floor shipped.
It seems that the middle and rear supports were swapped and...
I did find that thread in my search. It’s not that bad. It looks like a couple rivets went in wrong at the factory, so there were a couple gaps and there are some cracks right at the rivet locations for the air intake plenum.I’ll probably find a few more things to fix when I get further along...
Does anyone know what type of plastic the heater box and upper air plenum are constructed of?
I did some research, and a few tests. It sinks, and it burns an orange color from the small sample I sacrificed.
I can’t find any evidence of fiberglass. Could it be PE plastic? I would like to buy...
I had a moment of clarity on the way to pick up the kids after putting the tools down, and realized those were probably the inner mounts near the gas tank. Kicking myself for not checking everything once the old panel was cut out, so considering options, even cutting the spot welds from the...
I replaced the rear floor pan some time ago and just went back to prep for a fold&tumble seat from a late Laredo. The bracing from Classic is not in the same locations as the factory floor pan, which won’t really matter as the seat is a custom install and I’m using weld nuts and 1/8” steel...
I am in the process of re-assembly for my Dana 300. LoMax gears, and twin stick conversion. I purchased the spring kit with single smaller ball bearing from J&B. The directions have me a little confused, and my searches have landed me all over the place . . .
For those that have been through...
Sorry to hijack, but where did you source the brass float?
Also curious about the fuel lines - has anyone converted to high pressure fittings, or have the band clamps worked fine? I need to add a 3/8” fuel line for my Explorer 5.0 conversion, and the Novak pump is almost ready for install.
I just emailed Genright about being #3 on the list.
I asked if the YJ fenders work for a CJ also, as they ( afore mentioned ) no longer have much for CJs. I remember those were interchangeable back in the day when people were disguising YJs with front sheet metal CJ parts, but not sure if...
I might be persuaded to hop on the list. Genright has taken most CJ stuff off of their site at this point. Any pictures of how the aluminum corner guards look? Do they offer a paper template to cut out the factory wheel openings with the tool of your choosing?
A random bumper made of round tubing. There was also a tow hitch welded on below the bumper and to the frame at the wheel wells.
The new bumper will be a Warn rock crawler. Sounds like I can ditch the inner L brackets - I think the Warn has outer frame L brackets that bolt on.
