2016 PA Jeep Show in York Pa

Were it not for a last minute delay in getting the window glass cut and tempered, it could have been the maiden voyage for the new JK Safari Cab. I finished up the last details a week ago but I won't have the window glass until next week :(. Other than that the choices would be the Retro...

2016 PA Jeep Show in York Pa

I'm thinking about maybe running down on Saturday, I haven't been to the show in about 5 years.

Would a two door limited top work on a scabler

I agree. If price is the main consideration, being patient in monitoring Craigslist and being willing to drive a bit to pick it up will be less expensive than splicing two CJ hardtops or building your own from scratch.

Would a two door limited top work on a scabler

Using lexan for the windows was one of the suggestions I made to the guy with the YJ hardtop problem. He didn't want to do that because acrylics/polycarbonates are so prone to scratching. I wouldn't do it either for the same reason, but it would work and with enough heat an...

Would a two door limited top work on a scabler

About 6 months ago I got an email from someone making a longer top and his experience may help here. He lengthened his YJ to roughly LJ length (so about 9" shorter than a Scrambler, but the info in this post still applies to lengthening a top for a Scrambler). He cut two YJ hardtops in half...

    EJS 2016

Thanks, got home Wednesday evening, no problems at all. Sorry to hear that yours needs work. The LJ-8 performed perfectly on all 300 miles off-pavement and on the other 6100 highway miles of the trip, a lot of which were at 80+ mph out west.

    EJS 2016

Didn't do Inyo Crest, maybe next time :). In Denver now, beautiful weather here, and it was gorgeous on I-70 through the Rockies yesterday. Heading through Nebraska today.

    EJS 2016

Illness wasn't a factor that day, nor were mechanical issues. Conditions in Death Valley and the Mojave were great, except for the first day in Death Valley - high winds and dust storms that day. The road to Scotty's Castle is still out but that's ok, I was more interested in the trails. The...

    EJS 2016

Terry, I made it, but had to change my plans for the day I was supposed to be on the trail with you. I arrived Saturday and left a week later on Sunday, so I was there all week. Missed seeing you too. I'm in Las Vegas now, after Moab I went to Death Valley and from there to the Mojave; I did...

    CJ-7 World Cab in Dub

I think you might be right. The scan is a good representation of the printed page, so there's nothing else to be seen there, but if you compare it to this photo of a CJ7 World Cab on a TJ there are just too many things that aren't quite right.

    CJ-7 World Cab in Dub

No, I've already had a CJ-7 World Cab, turned it into the half cab for my Wrangler pickup ;).

    CJ-7 World Cab in Dub

I came across an ad for Race Sport lights in Dub's LFTD&LVLD magazine with this CJ-7 World Cab in it. The World Cab has definitely been hacked a bit, those aren't the factory side windows, and the doors are standard CJ round corner doors, so they've done some mod to the side panels to convert...

Terry - I'll be on Cameo Cliffs with you.

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

BTW if I were to do it again I wouldn't have to cut the World Cab apart, now I can make the Retro Wrangler half cab in fiberglass, but at the time my only option was to work in steel and cut the World Cab... The fiberglass version on a tub, along with a TJ/Commando front end kit...

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

No, because I was creating something even more rare - the one-of-a-kind Retro Wrangler pickup :).

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

The only place I know of that the short version was sold in quantity is Venezuela. It's very rare everywhere else.

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

I bought it in Neath, Wales and brought it back to London in/on our leased Vauxhaul Astra.

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

It was in pieces because I had to store it in our London apartment for a year before we moved back to the U.S. and had to transport it back from the U.K. to the U.S. Once back in the U.S., the top became part of my daily driver Retro Wrangler pickup where it's served for the past 7 years...

    CJ7 Wagon and Van

The side windows on the CJ-7 World Cab I brought back from my years living in London were not factory windows, they were added sometime after. Here are a few more pics of it... After I got it home, I tried it on the TJ I had at the time: This earlier photo of that same top was published in...
