It's been out on the rocks in Moab a few times now, driven cross country and up Holy Cross and through Flat Nasty... taken its share of licks...will eventually go the way of another owner...I've had it for about 7-8 years now and need a new direction...this year was awesome, I'll grab a few more photos when I'm able, love sharing.

Thanx,

When completed, Moab will have it's first underground parking garage. I don't know how we ever got by without one.

Wonder if anyone had the common sense to build the garage adult sized? I can never find a place to park as my junk never fits any parking garage.

We got tired of the weak shirts out there so we've designed our own, coozies too. Anyway, we could do paypal if anyone is interested...maybe start a separate conversation via PM if you are, keep it off this thread...I'm not trying to solicit, just tossing out a possibility cuz it was asked.

Sent you a PM about the cozies. I'm still interested.

The LJ-8 last week at EJS...

Hey Jeff, I was afraid you didnt make it this year, I didnt see you on the trail or around town all week. I was on mostly all early trails though and didnt get into town much.

I saw quite a few scramblers around town, sure seemed that we are millenia behind in the technology sphere out on the trail though.

Terry,
I made it, but had to change my plans for the day I was supposed to be on the trail with you. I arrived Saturday and left a week later on Sunday, so I was there all week. Missed seeing you too.

I'm in Las Vegas now, after Moab I went to Death Valley and from there to the Mojave; I did about 80 miles off-pavement in Death Valley and then did 65 miles (just under half) of the Mojave Road. Starting my trek back to upstate NY tomorrow.

I get that Jeff, as we were lining up we had 5 or 6 no shows and light jeeps due to a bunch of suspected food poisonings, I was hoping it wasnt your reason for missing the ride.

I went to Death Valley last year after EJS and then the Mojave Road in Oct/Nov last fall. We missed a 100 year rain event by one day in the Mojave, it hit Death Valley and wiped out many of the roads we used, including the paved road to Scotty's Castle. The guys I went with last year went back after EJS this year too but I didnt make it this year. I hope you had good time out there, its fascinating to see some of the stuff out there in the desert.

have a safe drive home

Illness wasn't a factor that day, nor were mechanical issues.

Conditions in Death Valley and the Mojave were great, except for the first day in Death Valley - high winds and dust storms that day. The road to Scotty's Castle is still out but that's ok, I was more interested in the trails. The network of trails in the Chloride City/Chloride Cliffs area was great, we really enjoyed them. This photo is from the Chloride Cliffs overlook. The view extends all the way to the Badwater Salt Flats, about 40 miles distant.

Mojave conditions were perfect. Here's Heather paying the customary "toll" at the penny can tree at mile 42 of the Mojave Road. We did 65 miles of the Road, so just under half. I highly recommend it, it's a great trip.

Heading across Colorado today.

great trip Jeff, Im glad it wasnt sickness or mechanicals the impacted your Safari trails. Mojave Road and Death Valley are a great time! I would like to go back and explore more, we didnt get to near enough of it. I remember the 'toll' there that Heather's covering for you, I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. Did you make the Inyo Crest? Some great views there too.

Safe trip home, I hope Colorado isnt snowing on you, are you taking I70 or further south?

Didn't do Inyo Crest, maybe next time :).

In Denver now, beautiful weather here, and it was gorgeous on I-70 through the Rockies yesterday. Heading through Nebraska today.

I hope youre back safe and sound by now Jeff, Ive been working on mine since I got home, I'm surprised i made it the whole week.... good thing I couldnt make the Ca trip as I had initially hoped.

Thanks, got home Wednesday evening, no problems at all. Sorry to hear that yours needs work. The LJ-8 performed perfectly on all 300 miles off-pavement and on the other 6100 highway miles of the trip, a lot of which were at 80+ mph out west.
