And now it is sitting in a yard in Toledo waiting to be shipped. My dealer tells me it is scheduled to be in Albuquerque on Aug. 5 and then needs to travel to the dealer in Cortez, CO., a little over 100 miles from Moab. I expect to pick it up around Aug. 9-10 about 15 weeks from the order...

I got an email from my dealer this morning. After 45 days stuck in "D" status. my Gladiator has finally been scheduled for production with an estimated "ship date" of July 14. Things are falling into place. The Scrambler buyer is supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I'll be sad to see it go...

That's not a Gladiator. It's a JK-based AEV Brute. It's what you might call a Gladi Daddy.

I've kept mine dry...Utah and Colorado...though I did drive it to my 20-year high school reunion in 1985 in Southern California...so add California (haven't been back since), Nevada, and Arizona. I took the top off at the beach and drove around with it in the bed.

It doesn't take long for paint from that era to fade. I removed "Scrambler" from my hood within minutes of getting it home in 1982. If you get in in just the right light, the ghost is still visible today...though not as visible as yours.

Within a week after ordering opened, they stopped taking the orders for steel bumpers. I ordered on day 2. They must have just gotten enough bumpers in to take care of some of the initial orders. If you want the OEM steel bumper, I'd bet there will be a lot of them for sale after folks switch...
