Gladiator

I like my Scrambler's as "small pick ups".

If I want a big/medium Jeep pick up, couldn't I just buy this and save $20,000, and be more unique :shrug:

That one above is kind of "high" at $25,000, but looks nice.

There is a rust free one in Atlanta for $10,000, but is a 6 cylinder/3-speed.

But:

J10 - $10,000
New GM engine/transmission/transfer case of your choice - $10,000
New Dana 60's - $10,000
A bit of paint - $5,000

Still cheaper then a Gladiator, and more capable :twocents:

Spankrjs, I absolutely love those trucks, however I can't drive one of those through Michigan winter's without ruining it. Too much salt. If I lived in the south I would have a cool old Jeep or Chevy truck for sure.

Also, not easy to take the top and doors off them. ?

I was at my local Jeep dealer today working with a salesman that’s been there for years. I showed him a picture of my Scrambler in Utah and the group picture, he was totally amazed. He’d never seen or heard of a Scrambler. Rather humorous I thought.

I keep forgetting about you "salt the road" people :(

The first time I went to Michigan I was absolutely shocked to see cars that were only a couple of years old rusted out already!!!!

I saw BigWalton's LJ Rubicon a few years ago, and he has really took care of it, but that salt is brutal. My 05 Rubicon is still like new, no rust at all anywhere.

That being said, if I lived where y'all do, I would never buy a new car, let alone a $40-65,000 vehicle. Maybe a new sub $20k Hyundai, Kia, or Honda. Buy it new, throw it away in 5 years, repeat :twocents:

What my wife and I do is lease her a new car and my daily driver is a used Grand Cherokee bought in the south. And get it undercoated. When the winter comes around I have a monthly plan at a really good car wash near me. I can take my vehicle there every day if I want and get it washed along with the underbody. That doesn't prevent all rust but it definitely helps emmensly. My 07' WK looks fantastic imo with about 150k miles. But that's what you have to do up here. :shrug: :cheers:

Very easy to find rust free vehicles down here. When I see a late model vehicle with extensive rust, I know it is a transplant :twocents: Or, it pulled jet ski's on the beach, or worked at the closed down gypsum/fertilizer plant :eek::eek:
 
I actually saw one today...at a dealership.
 
Seen 2 at 2 different dealers. First one is gone, second showed up yesterday at a Jeep dealer in Sealy.

I know I'm gonna get flamed, but I still like the retro scrambler graphics on it. Helps make the proportions look right and kinda shortens it up. :cheers:

I originally did not like the Scrambler concept at EJS...but I think the one above looks ok...except for the hood lettering. I'm beginning to consider having some similar side graphics produced for mine, if it ever gets here. It does seem to shorten it. The flared front section of the stripes on the black one looks better than the totally straight graphics on the concept. I'm still thinking about removing "Rubicon" from the hood...or might just have the font changed to something less bulbous and with no ugly red outline...similar to the original, subtle Rubicon lettering that was used between 2003 and around 2013 or so.
 
Saw another one on the way to town today. This one was red and it still didn’t do anything for me. Maybe they’ll grow on me now or it’ll be something I want later on down the road but for now I’m gonna see what you guys day about them.
I have to qualify all as this is just one mans opinion.
 
Interesting. I had set Barrett-Jackson to record but had not yet looked at the docket. That is not the concept, which had a brown hard top, different wheels and a roll bar...unless they switched them out. It is apparently one of the graphics packages you can order from the factory. I saw some graphics packages were available but didn't look at any of them.

I think the stripes on the black one are done better. The stripes on the white one are too thin and too far from the bottom of the rockers.

Rims look good with it though. :twocents:
 
I got an email from my dealer this morning. After 45 days stuck in "D" status. my Gladiator has finally been scheduled for production with an estimated "ship date" of July 14. Things are falling into place. The Scrambler buyer is supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I'll be sad to see it go (again)...but it just isn't practical to hold onto it any longer. I've only put about 2000 miles on it in the 3 1/2 years since I got it back, almost all of which were town trips of about 60 miles each. I only did one off-road jaunt (top off and windshield down up Onion Creek). The Gladiator will get a LOT of off-road use.
 
Great to hear man! Congrats! I saw one in the "wild" tonight in town and didn't realize until we were pulling away from the Dairy Queen that it was parked a few spots away. Thought of you.
 
The local Dealer has about 5-6 of them on the lot (I think a couple have already sold). I see one on a test drive now and then. They are a lot longer in person than I'd expected from photos.

Saw an interesting video on YouTube of someone already doing a Hellcat swap (takes some fortitude to intentionally void warranty on a brand new vehicle). Practical? No. Fun? YES!
