put a 1amp trickle charger on the Optima and let it sit for as long as you can (over night is a minimum). i had a similar problem with a new optima i bought. after letting it charge this way for a couple days, it was 10x better.
you can pick up a 1amp trickle charger from AutoZone for less...
i'm going to go across the grain on this one.
i don't see any reason you cannot shift into and out of 4WD HI "on-the-fly" as long as your front hubs are locked in, your rear tires are not slipping, and you are going straight. with your hubs locked and the rear tires not slipping, the front...
i received this the other day:
"I have not heard of an exact release date but know that they are coming out this summer. I have not heard what is going on with the bows either. Sorry I didn't have any information for you but I should know a little more in the next few months. Michael Knutson...
the MORE front frame plates are definitely worth the $$$
i didn't use them in the rear because i wanted something that was longer than what the CJ-7 frame plates were. now that i've done it, the cj-7 MORE rear frame plates would probably be the best way to go.

i used the MORE frame plates on the front and they fit perfect. i would recommend running bolts thru all the holes you will be using and tack the plate on really well before welding it on solid. i also made a pair of frame plates for the rear out of 3/16" material. they seem to work fine...
the subject says it all.
i plan on having my scrambler ready to drive before summer time. the last i heard, Bestop was supposed to have the Scrambler Supertops ready sometime in the near future.
thanks for any info!

is it leaking a lot, or just a little?
if it is just a little, then you may be able to do this: drain the gear lube and clean out the differential housing. fill housing with about 3/4 of a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer and top off with your favorite gear lube. this has stopped leaking seals...
a buddy of mine who owns a shop only uses Marshall rebuilt engines. he gets a deal on them from his local NAPA. as far as i know, he has had no problems with them.
one i remember in particular went into a 74 chevy NOVA. it was a green 2-door grandma car that a H.S. kid bought and blew up...
change the fluid.
try adding 1 qt. of Lucas Oil Stabilizer (i get it at NAPA) and top off with generic 80W90 gear lube that is less than GL-5 (gl-3 and gl-4 is fine). this greatly reduces the noise in my trannies and x-cases.

the best thing to do is to get everything (engine, tranny, x-case) in your jeep and then measure them.
in addition, i have used the 4 Wheel Drive hardware catalog as a good reference for factory drivehsaft lengths. i know my scrambler came with a T-176 and D300. the front shaft length will...
i just spoke with a guy that is local to me about making some Stainless Steel (S/S) bolt on exhaust for AMC Jeep Cj's with AMC v-8's. the exhaust would be similar to this design:

i have spoken with the guys at Discount Muffler and they are too...
you can either heat and bend the one you have or try to find one out of an older Ford pick-up. they are bent in an "S" shape and may work better for you. matt
a buddy of mine bought and Omix-Ada cj-5 tub for a resto project he is doing for someone else. he says he will NEVER buy another Omix tub, but instead get one from W/O. they would probably be OK for a fully custom vehicle, but a lot of work for a resto project. matt
