    LJ-8

Thanks. Marketability isn't one of the decision criteria, I don't have any plans for this to be a commercial product, it's all about what I decide I want on my JK. Also about which one I think will look best with the JK Safari Cab, which I'm building right now. At the moment I'm leaning...

    LJ-8

Thanks. The printout is scaled down from the original j-truck so it can fit the much smaller JK. The headlights and "pie plates" are the same size as the j-truck originals, and the center grille is scaled down. Then everything is moved closer together so it all fits. I think having less open...

    LJ-8

The main reason I was playing with that hood today is that I'm trying to decide if I want to build a Jeepster Commando kit for the JK, or if I want to build the J-truck Rhino-grille styled JK "Retro Rhino" kit... vs.... Hmmm.... I'll probably never install the TJ Commando kit on...

    Storage Boxes... Who's using what?

If you want something that fits behind your back seat, check out the one Gr8Tops offers. The front of the box is sloped to match the slope of the seat back to maximize storage space. Fits nicely between the inner fenders, and still allows for some cargo space between the box and the tailgate.

    LJ-8

This morning I experimented with the TJ Commando hood on the LJ-8. I didn't swap the CJ grille for the Commando grille, all I did this morning was stick some fiberglass replica Commando grille ears in there to see what everything looked like. Everything's just setting together, so it's not all...

    Postal striping or graphics ideas/input

I may be in the minority on this, but I think "less is more". I considered a lot of different graphic ideas when I was finishing my recent LJ-8 project, but ended up with just a simple emblem and small "Renegade" decal on each side of the tub below the "Jeep" embossing. If you do decide to go...

    What's on your Work Bench?

Here's what's on my workbench this morning... I molded a test set of Jeepster Commando grille extensions in fiberglass. I'm doing some experimenting with my TJ Commando grille/hood kit...

    What's on your Work Bench?

Speaking of dashes... this is on my workbench... I've always liked the look of aircraft-style gauges, like these military ones: I was thinking something like that might look cool in a CJ dash, so I made a "fighter" gauge bezel for a CJ gauge: It's a fairly simple ring cut from plastic...

    anyone going to SEMA?

If anyone wants to see a little more about what's going on at SEMA, you can check out this app: http://www.expocadweb.com/sema14/ec/forms/attendee/indexTab.aspx. It's the complete floorplan and booth layout, and by clicking on any booth you can get more info and usually a link to the company's...

    anyone going to SEMA?

No, I'm not an exhibitor, but a company that is an exhibitor this year is debuting several Jeep accessories I've designed. My SEMA membership is not related to that company BTW, I'm attending under my own membership.

    anyone going to SEMA?

You either need to be a SEMA member, or you "have to hold a qualified position and work within the automotive industry" as it says under the "Attendee" link on this page: http://www.semashow.com/faqs. If you're not a member, documentation is required to prove you work in the industry, which...

    OT: Retro Wrangler/Willys Pickup (long)

Randy, And I'll thank you again for the suggestions you gave me back when I was figuring out the tailgate latch mechanism for the Retro - I implemented your cable idea way back then, and it's worked perfectly all these years. Thank you very much! jeff

    OT: Retro Wrangler/Willys Pickup (long)

What's that old saying... oh yeah - "if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it" :) I have moved on to other projects, I've got a bunch of other Jeep projects underway, but they're all off topic for this forum, so I haven't posted them here ;)

    OT: Retro Wrangler/Willys Pickup (long)

Today is the 6th anniversary of the completion of the Retro Wrangler (post 505 of this thread, 9/19/2008). In that time it's been a daily driver, and completely trouble-free. I've put about 55,000 miles on it since completion, including off-road time at Easter Jeep Safari. I've done lots of...

    LJ-8

There are circumstances under which I would consider molding a Scrambler Safari Cab, or a CJ Grille Kit for a TJ, or a Commando Kit... but money isn't the key factor. For example, if someone was building a show Jeep that they planned to display at SEMA, that would be an interesting reason to...
