Not exactly the same, but my 89 tbi 4.3 has been below sea level at Death Valley to over 13000 ft on Imogene pass in Colorado. It has always started right up and ran well. Howells kit is based on the gm tbi setup. The only difference is some kits do not adjust timing for elevation like the...
Excited to see what you decide on phase 2! I also added AC to my jeep. I used the Jeep air kit. Glad to see you got the sanden compressor. I got the original style, new, and it has started leaking after 2 years.
AC does make the engine run hotter and the floors reflect more heat. To combat...
We went to Ouray and ran these trails plus Poughkeepsie. Was a great trip. Poughkeepsie isn’t as bad as some say, plus the “wall” is optional. I feel everyone should run Black Bear pass. It isn’t a hard trail, just need to keep your tires on the trail.
The 12 bolt isn’t a bad axle, just not the most common swap. It’s the next size up from a 10 bolt/dana 44 clone. I would assume you have the matching front from the donor vehicle as the truck 12 bolt is significantly wider than the Dana 30/amc 20 your jeep came with.
I live up in Edmond...
I have a 44 front with an OX locker and a full PSC steering system with hydraulic assist. I ran without the ram for a month or so before building the mount. I really love the ram. It takes any shimmy away. Off-road I had the same issue as you. When locked you could get into a position where...
I agree with the Canadian! I made my NP241 shifter from scratch. You should be able to modify it without too much trouble. The older I get, the more I like keeping things lower.
I broke my HF vice the just like that changing u joints. I ground the paint off, heated it and mig welded it back together. Probably been holding for nearly a decade.
In the picture above it looks like the bottom hinge is angled a bit. You should be able to loosen the hinges and move them a bit to get the doors to close/align better. Rusty is looking great!
I think it would be pretty neat. As @CJ7Pilot stated, not sure on the accuracy it will have given the environment within the Jeeps dash. That said, its more for aesthetics than actual precise navigation. Being that you live in Texas factors like magnetic variation will be less noticeable than...
Those ARBs would be hard to beat in your current setup. Your future plan with tons gives you some options. Detroits are cheaper (than selectable lockers) and very strong. But I personally wouldn't run one in the rear on something that is street driven. I have a friend with a scout on a chevy...
Those axles are a pretty solid upgrade from what CJ8s left the factory with. Those axles are stronger, wider than stock and have better brakes. They look like FSJ dana 44s front and rear. I would look for a centered rear 44 from a newer wagoneer if the offset is a problem. The welds on the...
Getting on the trail and headed out. The last obstacle is Cadillac Hill. I felt it was fairly mild compared to the rest of the trail.
Took some picture at Observation Point.
At this point it was a little faster traveling.
We’ve never tried the over landing thing. Overall it went pretty great. After a good nights sleep we woke up and prepped breakfast to finish the trail and head into South Lake Tahoe.
The rubicon is a bit rough. The linked scout on ORIs was rough enough to crush/pop every beer in his...
I've bled brakes both with and without bench bleeding. It always seems to go faster if I bench bleed though. I've also had issues like this before and bench bleeding fixed it.
The Rubicon is a grind. It really tests your ability to focus as you have to pay attention the whole time. Otherwise you will get yourself in trouble. The hairpin at the bottom of big sluice looked really rough. Like most things on the trail, just keep going and you are able to pick your way...
