I did the R2.8 swap and used a shop in Platteville, Colorado (Herring Auto). Justin did a great job and built all the custom bracketry to hold the radiator, after-cooler and electric fans.
For what it's worth, I spoke to the parent company that bought the Poison Spyder brand. I asked if they intend on manufacturing the CJ line of items again, specifically for the CJ-8. He said there's a meeting in June/July of 2024 to discuss the brand and if it will continue and to what degree...
I found an aftercooler that will work and fit in the grill area. Axis Industries makes one but they were 6 months out so I found one with the same dimensions made by Mishimoto. Anyway, my r2.8 just showed up after 8 months. That's this winter's project.

I see you're in Williston, ND! My company does a lot of work in ND (oil and gas) - Marathon Petroleum Corporation. We own the refinery in Dickinson and in Mandan and also do crude and gas gathering and processing in the Bakken region. Great article!
I’m doing the R2.8 swap this fall into my 81. I haven‘t decided if I’m doing it myself or having a local shop do it, but for what it’s worth there are some here in CO that have done the diesel swaps.
I've got 5-37x12.5 R15 MTRs on 5x5.5 wheels I'm willing to let go. Good tread on all. One is a new Maxxis Crawler LT. I can bring to the SOA in Buena Vista if you're interested.
I know some (maybe all) of the places that rent Jeeps in BV have a list of trails that you can't go on. We had a lady a couple years ago want to join us until she found out we were running Chinaman Gulch(which was on list). Just a heads up.
