When we pickup the Scrambler in March 2017 the factory original Garnett paint had faded from years in the dry climate of California. The faded color was similar to the Rose Gold on Apple devices… so the Scrambler quickly became know as “Rose.”

We are fortunate to get Rose from another CJ-8.com member “bobbysjeep” after I went to purchase a set of extra wood rails he had. When I saw the Scrambler I was impressed with original paint and lack of rust from years in a dry climate and garage stored when it moved to North Carolina in January 2010. I plan to continue the work of bobbysjeep in preserving this time capsule. Below are several threads from bobbysjeep and his work on the body and interior over the seven years he owned the Scrambler.

Immediate preservation plans include detailing engine bay and under carriage and replace mechanical components.

After hot water pressure washing/degreaser the undercarriage and engine bay are clean. Starting with front removed, painting and replacing ball joints, axle joints, pads, rotors, bearings, hubs rebuilt (needed new one and thanks to CJ-8 member kayakgreen I have OEM on the way to replace) diff fluid, etc. Also replacing oil pan gasket, rear main seal, fuel filter, and serpentine belt to start. Here are few pictures of parts along the way.

It’s been a while, Rose is well, needed a detail, including clay bar, polish, sealer and wax... not bad for 36 year old original Jeep paint. Have to reinstall hood latches, etc removal for polishing
