Just starting off with apologies if this has already been covered but I didn’t see if in a quick search. I plan on going with a 4” lift BDS and 33 inch tires. I was hoping on staying with the original rims but I also have 15x10 rims I can use. Of those that have 33 inch tires, what width tire, and rims are you using and could you post a pictures? If I went with the wider tires would I have to use the wider rims? Are there advantages to using a 10.5 width vs a 12.5 width tire? Less rub when turning, better handling on the road? I’ve always had the standard sized tires on my Jeeps and trucks so this will be my first build and just looking to pick everyone’s brains a little. Thank you.

If your original wheels are 7" wide that could be a little narrow for 12.5s. I'd go to a 8" wide wheel for 12.5s. 10" width works too.

I personally prefer 12.5 over 10.5. I felt like the 10.5s were too narrow, especially when you get her lifted up a bit. I think the 12.5s feel a lot more balanced and stable.

I’ve got 33x12.50s on 10” wide rims.…my preference. I still have my oem 8” wheels, I might get back to them one day, but no reason to go there.

I did not realize you have 33” tires John. Wow. You just prove to everyone that you don’t NEED 35s to wheel hard.

I am leaning towards 33x12.5 R15 on the 10 inch rims that I have will be the way to go then. I have the wide trac axles, what other modifications did you guys have to do to fit those tires? John, and Rob have do you have any pics of your current setup?

I also have factory wide track axles on my 83'. Not exactly sure what the backspacing is on these wheels. Just snapped a couple pics.

I’m on custom Dana 44s front and rear. They’re 58” wide. 4.5” Rubicon Express lift and a 1” body lift. I can still rub the rear tires when I get twisted up.

33x10.5 general grabber MT's on 8" wheels. 1982 w/wide trac width axles and 4" lift

I find the 10.5 works better on Jeeps than the 12.5 in almost all conditions due to PSI of the footprint...enough floatation but not so much you are sliding around.

Here they are, 33x12.5 on 15x10 rims. Like the way they look, next step is the BDS 4 inch lift.
