4 door wrangler

4 Door

Somewhere in the early 90's Jeep had a 4 door prototype, now that the Unlimited has become popular I can see the four door becoming reality. Remember they were on again and off again with the Wrangler Unlimited. I am glad they built the Wrangler Unlimited.:D David "Papa Bear" Mc Ilrath

They had the Dakar concept after the TJ came out. They should have built it instead of the Liberty.

Weeeeeelllll, slap me silly and call me Susan.

-Travis, err, I mean Susan.

P.S. Also looking forward to seeing the re-designed Wrangler the article mentions.

A couple years back, they had the 4 door wrangler at the auto show in Detriot. It was AWESOME. They assured me at the show it would never go into production......

Several years later, I find myself being neighbors with a Daimler exec. He claims to be IN CHARGE of the 4 door wrangler project but won't give me much info other than the 2006 thing. It's for real and if they didnt stray too far from the prototype, it will be very cool.

For Future reference, my neighbor is also "trying" to get on the production team for the 2007 scrambler. The b#st#rd wont leak on that either.

Man, nobody listens to me...Dakar. 4 door TJ concept from late 90's

I saw Dakar at the Detroit Auto Show years ago -- hated it. First thing I thought was, "how do youget the top off?" I figured Dakar turned into Liberty. Ever since this post started I've been wondering what a four door wrangler would look like with the top off. I'm going into work for the first time in a while and first thing on my list is to find out what the deal is.

These are not Jeeps new version. There is a guy in knoxville that does 4 door conversions.

interestingly enough, he just did a conversion for the DCX and Jeep and shipped one to them prior to their announcement. I figured they would have had it on display at camp jeep.

I've been in one of these and driven one. When he is done with them, you will be pretty hard pressed to tell these are not one that drove off the line. They look, feel, and ride like original.

We were listening, but in another thread we deduced that this likely morphed into the Liberty. The TCV vehicles that Matt posted about are what we're talking about...this is what D-C had in some of it's booths a few years back and is what we would expect them to do if they brought a 4-door TJ to market.
