Aftermarket bulkhead?

Sorry if this subject has been covered before, but I'll ask anyway. Does anyone make an aftermarket bulkhead that works with the fiberglass bodies, or would I have to fab something up myself if I go that route?

Check in with me in a few weeks. I may have a repairable OEM one available for you. :) Did you pick up a Scrambler from Toby then?

No, I haven't gotten one yet.....but the fiberglass one I like is his. I keep going back and forth on what I should do. I love Scramblers and want one for sure, but it's gonna cost me over $15k to build one even remotely how I want. I can technically afford to do that, but it's money I should be saving for a house downpayment. I dunno, it's driving me nuts trying to come to some sort of decision.

4 year old bump :D

I'm looking into the possibility of a glass tub instead of steel, since it's a lot cheaper and won't rust.

But I'm a little worried about the fact that apparently, nobody makes a bulkhead that will fit the glass bodies. A quick search of here and JU seems to confirm, but I thought I'd ask.

Yep, that was one of the companies I was looking at that makes glass bodies. But not bulkheads.

I'll probably go with steel. Glass has it's advantages, but it seems like a lot of extra work to get it right.

I don't know much about glass tubs but if the one Nick Wendel bought for his Scrambler is typical I would'nt touch one. He cannot get half doors or full doors to fit, had issues with the fenders, no bulkhead and top will fit (he has tried both factory and my after market) and he wishes he had never sold his original body. I don't know the make of his glass tub but it was suppose to be one of the "good ones".

Gr8tops does not make one for glass bodies, their bulkheads as glass, but all made for steel. I think there's just too much variation in glass bodies and not enough interest overall.

Hey Richard! Sorry to hear about Nick's issues. That sucks.

Collins Brothers sells one that is fiberglass. However, I am told it was molded directly from a factory / steel bulkhead. So it should be identical to the original steel versions.

Gr8tops is owned by the owner of this forum and makes a stock replacement in glass that's made to fit steel bodies (and had these for sale before CB, I'd be curious to hear what CB says about how they developed theirs).

I'd ask folks to consider that when deciding.

$265 + shipping.

the mounting flanges/of it are designed to fit into a normal metal tub.

I'm not aware of anyone making a bulkhead to fit into fiberglass tubs. There are probably to many variations of designs of the inside of the tub to attempt to accomplish that.

That's what I suspected. The fiberglass bulkhead is interesting though, I'll have to keep that one in mind :)

there is a guy who sells them on ebay for 195 + shipping
not sure who they are made by though, check them out
