It all started out with thinking about small chrome dump truck horns on my half top for my project. It's just for fun for the kids. Don't hate me for it.

Then I thought, maybe an air compressor system for the Scrambler. For pumping up tires and such.

Again not needed, just another toy for my project. Hoping to install a system behind seats. Since underneath looks iffy.
Any suggestions? Looked on the net a bit, don't really know what I need.

Don't need a big one. A tank would help. I am gonna use a ARB pump in my LJ with a tank. I have an ambulance horn(stupid loud). Probably will also have "normal" truck airhorn also(not cheap plastic setup). Gonna usa a viair with tank on my truck for hadley air horn and the firetruck horn I have(also stupid loud). Under hood would be best if you have the room so you don't have to hear it when it is pumping. Maybe down under the master cylinder depending what you have there or where factory jack was if you don't have it.
I have 2 old school air horn compressor like the size of a soda can. Similar to cheap Chinese one of today except they have replaceable magnets and weigh twice as much that should work for a "normal" size airhorn. I bought both the ones I have from garage sale or flea market for $15 total. The 2 loud horns cost a whopping $9 total. The 1 retails for almost $300. Guy didn't know if it worked and said make an offer. I said $4, he said sold.

Yes. Haven't thought about that area. My drivetrain set up isn't using any type of vapor system. So no need for charcoal canister

During my web searches Klienn was always there. So, thanks for assurances.

I have a york AC compressor set up for an air compressor on my Scrambler. Easy set-up with factory brackets, etc. if you are running an AMC engine. If you are interested I can give you more details.

Thanks, Putting the thought on back shelf for now. To early in my build to work everything out. Seems the York set up is popular. My engine is Chevy small block

May not be what you want to hear, but this is the easy way. I used some riv-nuts to mount the bracket to the wheelwell and put the tank in when we want to go somewhere that we might air down and need to air up. Also, if you have room, ie a tool box just carry it in it so it is out of sight of five finger discount folks, etrc.DSC_0015 (Medium).JPG

I have seen those a couple of times. Do you get that refilled at a dive shop or something like that ?

No, a compressed gas place that sell Ox or acetyline (sp) CO2, IIRC. Been a while since I had to get it refilled. Lasts a long time. Actually won this at the E. KY Scramble. Early registration deal or something. Jason might remember.

I like my york, but powertanks are pretty neat. They can run air tools portably. I was kind of hooked on the old school cool of the york. It was lots more work than just throwing a powertank in though.

Thought about turning the A/C compressor that came with my '95- 4.0 transplant, but have not figured out where to put a tank... Long time ago there was a company that made a rear bumper for pickups that was a storage tank... Guess if you found a good enough welder... and some $$$.

There is quite a bit of "wasted" space between the fuel tank and the rear bumper for an air tank with decent protection as well. :twocents:
