Aluminum Rocker Trim - T-bolt question

Yep do a search on elevator bolts and I posted a picture of my set a few months ago . cheep and effective.

I only need 3, I'm going to make my own.
 
You could leave the 3 off and you would be doing better than amc jeep quality control back in the day. I have seen as many as 4 missing in 100% original CJs. :bacon:

That's 100% possible- because each of the present bolts left a telltale clean spot on the back of the trim. The three missing ones look like they've never been there...but they will when I'm done!
 
I have no hardware present to go by, anyone have measurements on the plate that slides through the back of the rockers?
 
I'm adding the rockers to mine. I have the rockers but need the hole location on the body. Can anyone give me the dimension from the bottom of the body to the center of the hole? Thx

I need the same info. Got a set of factory rockers from Rudy a couple years ago. Still need to mount them.

When you drill a hole, I guess put some tape down to keep the paint from chipping? Need to touch up the hole opening before installing

I did this with a set of unknown rocker panels a few years back... pictures are worth a thousand words but basically, butcher block paper, trace the backside, punch holes, transfer and tape on the jeep, mark and drill (tape the drill hole locations with blue tape as well to avoid chipping)

If you are wondering, the reason for doing it this way was the recessed not be able to see bolts on the bottom.

Do these only come in one size?

I think some people have used elevator bolts that have the head/flat part cut down to fit the channel. That's what I'm gonna try when I take mine off to paint the Jeep.

Guy had some on ebay last week. Wanted about $10-12 each for them after shipping though.

With care, remove and save your originals! A little heat is all it take for any stubborn ones.
 
When I got my Scrambler it came with a couple pre-broken bolts. I drilled/tapped/repaired them, and realized there were still a couple missing. I found a seller on EBay that made stainless ones and purchased a set. If you go this way tell the seller it’s a Scrambler and you need an extra 2. There’s a total of 12 on a Scrambler, 10 on a CJ7. It looks like he might be out of the stainless right now, but he has some standard ones. The seller was great to deal with.

Edit: I was just looking through his stuff- he has an amazing amount of products. Including what appear to be correct side board bolts, and half top seat belt spacer bushings.
