Oh boy...

I committed to buy a stroker build that @Cincyjeeprs son Sam built for his Scrambler and has had for some time, but never put the Jeep together with it. (Sam is @Samweldspoorly on here but I think he only posted once.)

As sad as I am to see Sam's rig not get finished, I get it, and I hope to give this a proper home.

This will fulfill two needs: my years' long plan to end up with a stroker and this sick engine to be powering a Scrambler.

Build was targeting: 325hp/350tq with peak tourque around 1800rpm and run on 87. Should be fun :smokin:

When I swapped the 4.0 in the Postal years ago, this was the plan.

(It's so pretty, it's almost a shame to be putting in my junk :rotfl: )

More details to come, lots of things to finalize yet and TONS more photos to post. Sam documented the CRAP out of this build.

I am equal parts excited and worried.

Excited for the obvious reason of finally having this dream come true.

Worried because the Postal truly needs to have the body pulled and a number of things corrected. I've been putting this off for about three years past where it really needed to happen.

I think I've officially decided that I want to repair the existing body and at the rate I work and with the "while I'm in there" items, I'm looking at years of downtime. Putting this in is NOT going to help me want to take it off the road.

This engine's purpose was to power a Scrambler and I couldn't bear watching Sam's awesome work go into some YJ/TJ/whatever-the-heck. It needs to fulfill it's destiny

How did that start life? Did he buy a golen to start? or build from scratch?
Long story. Short version, he had a shop build it (I don't know if he supplied a motor or not) and he found a couple issues, so he tore it completely down to check everything, fully blueprint it and rebuilt it correctly himself with new parts as needed.

Now that looks like a good time right there!
You have NO idea (...how stupid it was :rotfl: )

The moral here: never make major engine repair plans while drinking brown liquor.

It did work, after one issue with exhaust manifold fitup, and was finished in a single day. Drove out to the beach and drove it back off that evening. That included pulling the head that was used off of a dead XJ that morning, cleaning and prepping it on a tailgate on the beach next to us working to pull the other head.

You were basically doing open-heart surgery right there on the beach. I love it.

I can just hear AC/DC singing their big balls song in the background while everything‘s going on😂
