Dana 300 indicator switch

Hello, all. I recently rebuilt my TF999 and Dana 300 in my Jeep. All went well for never having done it. The only two issues I had from the effort is that I still have a slight tranny leak around the pan (a problem I have had forever) and I also damaged the 4wheel drive indicator switch in the transfer case. When I reinstalled it in the t.c. housing it bottomed-out against the shifting rail. This distorted the switch casing before I figured out what I had done. Now the switch stays on all the time. I have tried to remove the burr I created but no luck so far. Where can I get one off these and what are they commonly called? I cannot find them in any normal or Jeep-specific parts places. Finally, is a spacer/washer/seal supposed to be inserted between the switch and the transfer case housing? I am thinking something must be there since I went too deep with mine and hit the rail. Thanks for any help.

Sincerely,

Did you get it in the proper location? I think it will screw into either hole, but it belongs in the outboard one.

Thanks, Randy. I messed-up. I took photos of my tear-down to help me with the reassembly but got the switch in the wrong spot anyway. I figured it out in my garage about the time you posted your reply. I had it in the inboard port...makes sense why the switch was on all the time and why the switch casing bottomed out. I am sorry for this posting, I didn't have my ducks in a row before asking questions.

OK you are banned and not allowed to make post anymore
Just kidding. If this were the case I would have been banned after my first couple of post:eek: :D
Glad you figured it out.

Ok, Truck, thanks for your tolerance. Ha-ha. To put my previous post in perspective, I had just figured out the problem after being clueless for a few days and came into the house to check for similar postings on the issue. When I saw Randy's reply (he nailed it on the head, by the way) I came down on myself pretty hard. I am one of those that has miles patience for ignorance, including my own, because ignorance is simply a lack of knowledge. Stupidity, on the other hand, is a whole different "ball game" and I have little patience for it. Let's just say that MY initial post had nothing to do with ignorance and more than I care to admit of the other! Thanks for the kind words, they did help. 'Bessie' reads fine in all gears now.

Sincerely,
