Glove box door slider hinge mod for cage clearance

IMPORTANT NOTE!!! Pics are from A RIGHT-HAND DRIVE postal Scrambler! Reverse them for a normal Jeep, don’t do exactly what I did.

This came up on my stroker thread and want to share it here. When I did my cage, the a-pillar on my passenger side blocked the glove box door.

I modified the hinges to use a long screw that I installed and then ground the threads off of to allow the door to be unlatched, slid to the right and then opened.

The two hinge pics show the door to the left and right.

The angle and camera lens make it look like the door might clear the a pillar. I assure you, it does not. ;)

In the partially open pic you can see how off-center the door is after sliding right.

Found the thread I was thinking of but the pics don’t work now. Simple enough and has the step by step.

Ugh. Now if I decide to do this mod, I will need to find a replacement box to make the glovebox useful.

Added a warning, just in case… these are from a right-hand drive Postal. Reverse the pics for normal Jeeps.

For Mater, I made one up out of plywood and some metal unistrut type stuff because the stock paper box was in tatters.
