After many years of window shopping, I finally broke down and bought a 4 post lift. I’m finding that the older and fatter I get, the more I despise laying on my back for hours working on vehicles. Over the years I’ve gotten away from changing my own oil, in my work trucks, as well as personal vehicles. As you all know, oil changes have gone from roughly $30 to $100+. And my diesels are $150+. (At least in my area). It may take a while, but eventually it may pay for itself?? Anyway, this reasoning is how I justified the expense. Just thought I’d share a few pictures.

Nice setup you have there.

Do you have the caster kit to move it around or are you pretty happy with where you have it?
I got the kit with mine so I can turn it 90 degrees to get enough ceiling height (I think, just got the power into the garage)

Awesome. Do you also have the add ons to lift the tires off the platforms? I am trying to determine which type of lift I want when we move to our terminal house andI have a large shop/barn

That looks great... the green looks like the same color of my LJ... Deep Beryl Green...

I do have the caster kit. I think I’ll move it around a bit to see where it works best. I wanted the option to move it outside the shop to pressure wash the undercarriage and what not. I opted for the 110 V so that I could easily run a heavy extension cord if needed.

I did buy one jacking plate so that I can lift one end at a time and do brakes wheel bearings, etc. I would like to have bought the electric/hydraulic jack scissor unit, but couldn’t justify the extra $$

Not sure what color green it is. I had my local paint supply shop mix it up for me about 10 years ago. The paint brand is Rival. It’s an industrial paint. The guy at the paint supply store told me that they use it on the school buses.

That sounds like a nice set up.
I had to search around a bit to find one that would roll around under the 8' ceiling to move it to the higher raised spot, no way it will fit outside through my standard garage door.

My detached garage was originally fed with a single 30a 120v circuit, no way that was going to power anything worthwhile for shop work.
I now have a 100a panel out there. (I know a guy , you know the story about the cobbler and his family's shoes)

Sounds like you got it set up perfectly.
I do know the story, and I know the cobbler. 😂

Each Jeep has a 2 1/2 inch lift. From the top of the windshield frame of the tan Jeep, To the floor is 14’-10”. The lift can still go up another 12” or so, to its max height.

So to answer your question, the way the locking mechanisms work, you would need a minimum of a 16’ ceiling for this height set up.

I have the same lift. It is a great addition to any garage. There are only 2 things temperamental on these things
1 getting the locking mechanisms at each corner to catch at the same times and making sure the cable stays around the unlocking pulley. The caster kit to move it around is great but needs to be stronger as I bent 2 of mine already
I’m a bit jealous as I can’t get another scrambler under mine when lifted all the way up.

I have found the same issues with the locks. I learned fast that you have to make sure the locking mechanisms are all engaged when you’re setting it. Also, making sure that all of the locking mechanisms are disengaged when lowering. One corner will occasionally hang up when lowering. It’ll make you pucker when your jeep is that high in the air, but it’s really not a big deal, just have to pay attention.

I’ve only used the casters to move it 3 times. They seemed really solid. Was your lift empty when you bent the casters.
