MDJuan Tubs

I want to officially welcome MDJuan as a Vendor Supporter on the forum. Very excited to see a vendor so actively engaged with helping the Scrambler community with these specialized needs!

Not that I'm anyone... but I'm very impressed! Most manufactures don't care! This is refreshing to see/ hear!
I was wondering MDJuan what kind of jig do you use when welding the panels together? and do you have any pic's
of that process? Your plant and operation looks nice!

You know guys we have a major aftermarket replacement jeep part manufacturer here. I am surprised no one has asked for this part to be made.

Either the postal top or the overlander top. What do you guys think?????
What do you say Rommel

I can't believe that this was not one of the first things asked for! LOL

I have a personal request for CJ10 export bodies to be made (grills, tubs, fenders, beds...)
I really only need the bed at this time. Here's some pic's of a cj10 front clip (fenders and grill)

Here is a closer look at the CJ8 parts available from MDJuan. We took clearer pictures for you :)

Daryl Bensinger will soon be calling everybody for the prices and to take orders.

Cheers,
Rommel

Hopefully when he contacts us it includes the group buy discount that was hinted in beginning, I was ready to order from his site but then I figured to wait till he contacts me.

I'm with u. tub is cheaper than I thought, and floor is more than I expected. but, as u said it does come with the supports.
I wish someone who has replaced a floor would chime in about the pros and cons of this new offer.

I have replaced both the entire front cab floor and the rear bed floor on my scrambler. Both were not difficult to do just a whole lot of drilling out spot welds. All I am lacking is replacing the four corners which I will be ordering soon.
Based on your question of Tub vs Replacement floors and such it all comes down to money and time. I didnt have the 3500 to drop on a tub so buying each piece as I could afford made since to me.

Hi Guys,

It's been quiet :) Can I follow up again on who can make it to the BBQ in Pennsylvania at the Quadratec office?

Cheers,
Rommel

Rommel - Not going to make it as I live in Colorado.

Now as for hearing from Daryl Bensinger I have not been contacted, although I did see the post where he now has prices on his web site, but these look to be his regular web price. Is Daryl going to offer CJ-8 Forum group buy discounts or similar?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi. This is Lida Bensinger, from D&L Bensinger.

Sorry I have been slow at actually joining the conversations here at the forum. Yesterday I emailed those of you who ordered SJ-8 parts from Rommel on this forum. A few email addresses were missing from the list they sent me so, if you did not receive an email from me, please let me know and I will forward it to you. It explains the discount that we are offering and the ordering procedure.

Thank you!
Lida

Is there any chance to have you ship the Tub as a knock down kit. That would make shipping much less costly. And for that that are having fitment problems or already have some modification to their frames it would allow them to make adjustments as needed.

Just wondering on this question as no one else has seemed to ask it.

Also if possible I would like to see what the pricing is on ones of these tubs if we get it as part of this big shipment.

We have the parts that are now available listed on our website. Go to www.dlbensinger.com. Click on the CJ8 SCRAMBLER category.

I don't know if they will consider shipping the kit as a "knock down kit," Carl. What do you think of that idea, Rommel?

I would need to have your zip code to give you shipping estimates, Chris. Let me know which parts you want to know shipping on. I'll have to get weights and sizes from Rommel and then I can get you a shipping estimate.

Thanks,
Lida

Carl

we do sell the tub parts separately. How do you suggest we knock it down further?

I was thinking a complete body in a box.

You could ship a set of all the parts to the Stateside distributor and either have them do assembly here. Or do the packaging into a kit over here. It seems that folks like OMIX/ADA and this Bensinger place have only had certain pieces or things like the floor assembly.

For shipping I would think that being able to have a stack of side panels, a stack of floor panels, Stacks of each brace, and small part would make it easier to fill a container and get a better deal on shipping. I was thinking that with full bodies you can get what 10 bodies in a container and then it is full. You also have to worry about dents and dings to the body during shipping. Knocked down you could get what 100 bodies in a container before you reached the weight limit?

If you had a stack of side panels, or floor panels without the braces welded in yet then they would be better protected for the trip. If you add a dimple to the die in the stamping process you would have a locator built into the parts so that Jigs were not needed for most of the assembly. So if there was a tab or small mark in the sheet metal you can just put the rib on top of the floor and spot weld away. Makes assembly pretty fool proof. It cuts jobs on your side of the water, but makes end use easier.

With the amount of rework that is happening on this side of the water to fix assembly mistakes and or shipping damage it would end up in a lower cost to the consumer however. The other upside is that folks doing restorations would not have to worry about getting the metal that has been sandwiched together where the ribs are welded properly treated to resist rust. This has always been something that I worry about with replacement sheet metal. How do you properly treat those areas that you can no longer get to. I would feel much better doing the treatment myself. Well unless we could get galvanized metal for the Jeep. I understand that Stainless is too much, and I have an aluminum body here and there are issues with that. But there are better surface treatments.

The other advantage of not shipping an assembled body is that if a panel does get dinged, it is a easy fix to grab another off of the shelf during the process over here. If you ship a body and it gets a dent, then you end up having to discount that whole body, rather than substituting a new panel.

So maybe in the end it is up to the distributor to sell the complete kit rather than you as the manufacturer. But if you offered this pricing difference to the distributor maybe it would work.

Also I kind of like the idea of making the panels without most of the holes and nuts welded to them. If someone wants to upgrade or change then there is no filling of holes or removing what you the factory has done. If this was a full on assembly plant the proper location of each item makes that line work faster. But in this form where we are doing a lot of custom stuff and one off builds. Having more leeway while looking stock is more of an advantage. The easy way around not drilling the holes is to provide a paper template or set of electronic drawings with measurements so that proper holes can be drilled on the end users side. It is nice to advertise a complete drop on body, but honestly most of the folks who do these body swaps are willing to put 8-40 hours into it to get a better fit. I personally would rather drill or cut a hole for wires or A/C, than having to create a patch and fill something that might have been there at the factory but that I am doing away with now.

These holes apply mostly to the Firewall and floor but might make your stamping process easier.

Thanks for the comments Carl. Right now the we don't see the demand for the CJ8 parts to reach the hundreds. And it doesn't make sense for the dealers to stock up on it. But I can try my best to provide you with any knocked down part that you require but we'd have to do it on a per piece basis. Also the labor cost in the Philippines is very low so if we delete that cost from our side it will be a peripheral saving. Our minimum wage here is actually less than 10 dollars a day.

Let me know the specific parts you need and I'll try to work with the Bensingers to get you what you want. :)

Just wish we could get the parts faster, I need those corners now and Have to wait till August based on timeline given.
