Oh man, that's a bummer. Work is going to get in the way of " Real ( Jeep ) Work.
Yeah, but the wife will be happy. I told her the other day “ See, Honey, we’re doing fine without me working.” I should have known better...🙄

I made some more real progress today- first I installed the Warn hub kit. Looks nice against the black wheels- I might modify the center caps so the hubs show more. (I’m still trying to figure out how to spiffy up the brass dials.) E7CD0DC9-2B96-4F56-8B3C-1B416FD03E49.jpeg Next step was reinstalling the engine. I was a hoping everything aligned up correctly because I added a 1/4” spacer under the drivers mount to level the engine. Well, everything went perfectly. Slid right into place, didn’t even have to use the dead-blow on the mount bolts! Good times. 13D98657-2906-4BBD-AAB7-DD4D2059B658.jpeg E966B7D8-4A5E-45A5-ABC6-3BE8A90928BB.jpeg 75130CF6-BB95-40EE-9672-6DFB8F42AF33.jpeg Also, my poly body mounts showed up today. Tomorrow will probably be a clean-up day, and then the plumbing starts!

Hell yes!!!

I always wanted to throw red paint in the WARN letters on those dials but never bothered.
That might happen! Sounds like a good idea. Just have to figure out how to make the brass look better. Or paint it black. With red letters.

Oh
All that looks like it's going to be a awesome setup. You need some more time off to get it completed. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Please post up pics of your hand brake when you finish. I've been looking at ways to convert mine forever. I was thinking a TJ handle may do the trick, just need to figure out where to locate it.

I will post my progress. That my be a bit down the road. I want to figure out how to do it with minimal floor cutting.

I cut the centers out of a couple of the center caps. I like the look but I also liked the silver hub showing. I also wonder if the bearings will run hotter this way. View attachment 83659
That's exactly why i never run centre caps: I reckon physics would seem to prove they make the bearings run hotter simply by insulating better and providing more thermal mass to heat up. Those do look really nice though.

Super8 stopped by with his family and brought some seats! (We also had some good times talking Jeep and drinking some good beers. )
One set of seats was his old ones, the other set was purchased a while back and he was holding them for me. Out of the 4 seats, only one was salvageable. I can’t believe how flimsy the frames are! But- yesterday I called on a Facebook ad, and ended up with a set of 86 ‘7 seats. The pass seat looks like no one has ever sat in it, although the frame is separated at the front corner. The drivers seat is pretty worn but the frame is solid! And the rear seat is great too. They came with a pair of fold-and-tumble bases. 237E9F53-9B5C-460F-AA7B-5C81F61845CC.jpeg E8BB3E85-5289-4EDF-AA6A-0CD0C9813080.jpeg One of the seats Super8 brought down. I thought it might be garnet but it looks more like chocolate! Date says 1981, but I’ve never seen this color before 40751F1D-C589-4212-AD7C-6BFE682C794B.jpeg C7295156-8276-4371-8D0E-808B5380B3FF.jpeg 55F82FA4-6101-4840-9502-D9E6F3F04389.jpeg These are my Facebook score. If I can find another OEM cover to match, I’ll run them that way. I would prefer that. If I can’t find another cover, I’ll carefully remove this one and get a set of the EBay leather Laredo covers. Hopefully if I go that way I can sell the perfect cover to make up some of the costs.

Next on the agenda- I welded in stiffeners between the front shackle plates. I also welded up the slots in the front spring plates and drilled more precise holes.

My 4 bolt box arrived this afternoon, and to my relief it was actually a 4 bolt casting.

It came from back East and the pitting on the front retainer is awful. But, it doesn’t show and as long as it works... I filed the fluid fitting bosses smooth and installed the banjo fittings. 9AFAB009-D88C-4869-B0B3-5B4B9F2C50AD.jpeg I bolted the box up to the MORE 1” forward mount, and bolted the assembly into the frame. It’s nice not to have to cut the frame to clear the lines. 6572F82A-156A-411D-9AE3-6C30EC391B64.jpeg 9B3551B1-8714-41D6-986F-43A4CB88E44B.jpeg Last on today’s list- the sway bar. Added some JKS quick release links while I was at it. Thanks CJ7pilot! I also found a Prothane poly kit for the sway bar in my stash. Then- beer ‘30! I have a theory on why the seats break on the pass side, even though they look like new. How do you get in the back? Fold the seat forward, grab the roll bar with your left hand, and grab the seat back with your right hand. Pull yourself up and in. And in the process put a heck of a side load on the flimsy frame which can easily flex and eventually break because the fold n tumble base is so flexible.
Working on a way to fix this.

I like how that steering box and mount turned out! I may have to add that setup to my own Scrambler when I get around to the steering.

I can't take credit for the sway bar links.

Does the seat inside material look to be stock? That is definitely a different shade of anything out there... my only other thought is a dye job?

That is why I think the inside would be more telling to see if there is material from a black/blue/garnet, etc.

Hey, Randy its been a while. I've been wet sanding and painting and wet sanding painting....you get the picture. Now that's over hopefully and i'm getting back to the good stuff. I'm running YOUR tank design with the same intention of not doing a body lift. Do you mind telling me what you ended up measuring from top of the frame to top new cross member? I've got 1x3 box stock and can get everything leveled up by using a small piece of it under the cross member at the frame but looks like you may be a skosh taller.
thanks, brent.

Well, now I feel badly- I know I was given those links from someone here a while back.

Can’t let this slide-search helped out. The JKS links came from Neilconnolly79 back in Dec 2016. Also some u-bolt skids and visors. Visors will also be used in this build, u-bolt skids ended up going to a friend.

The material that was hidden/unfaded was the same color. I’ll try and get a pic of the date stamp.

I am at 2 1/4” above the frame. The pump module sticks up a bit higher but that should clear fine. I want to let you know- I built a wood mock-up of the bottom of the bed to see what my clearances were. I have not actually set the tub back on the frame. But I’m pretty confident all clears. 0086AC37-1D1E-4103-A5B1-D310113A92AB.jpeg F289B9C8-1737-42D3-8735-8F32E00F9B16.jpeg 8D62CEE2-BE5D-4972-BDEC-5E5738A62B7E.jpeg 23BDD980-FE4C-4D05-8E44-F2DF81FCA584.jpeg
