From the kit I had, all of the parts were brand new Mopar parts. I don't imagine Jeep is still producing some of these parts, 1995 was 20 years ago
The kit was worth it to me for several reasons:
1) All brand new parts - no need to worry about broken old stuff from a junk yard that might be on its last leg
2) The computer/harness was built for this kit, so no time spent making a harness, and worrying about computer issues
3) The front mounted crank sensor/harmonic balancer - saved time over modifying a CJ bell housing for this sensor
The "kit" went together fast. The under hood stuff was dead simple. modifying the fuel lines took longer. If you started on this kit on a Friday night, you would easily have the Jeep back running on Sunday. Sometimes saving time is worth the money
After installing this kit, and finishing/redoing a TBI 350 swap in another one of my Scramblers, I feel confident I could go junk yard hunting and make my own MPI kit, but it would take much longer then a weekend
That sucks if Hesco quits making the complete kit, I might need to snag another kit now for any future projects

As far as the complete 4.0 swap, to me, the 4.0 is weak at low RPM compared to the 4.2. The 4.0 does have better high RPM power, though
