My old 1981 SCRAMBLER returns 25 years later

Also started on my beadlocks.

The DIY kits came from Jeep Armory in Cedar Springs. They are nice, High quality, and came with the anti-coning rings welded on................and they were the cheapest I found anywhere.

I welded 2 of them up quick and stuck a few bolts in to see how they fit. Still need to finish the rest and do some deburring and painting.

The outer rings will be metallic silver when they're done.

Nothing to exciting, but here is a little update.

Went out yesterday in the morning while everyone was sleeping. I got the front flares cut to fit and tacked in place.

This morning I trimmed out the extra aluminum from the fenders and finished the last 2 beadlocks.

The armor and flares came out nice. Wasn't sure I would like the rear flares but when done I Like.

I still really like the look it had with the wide "stockish" flares............but the tires would have caused major damage when flexing.

I do like how the new ones are coming along..................can't wait to get them painted body color.

And from the flex testing I've done so far. It looks like I may have 1/4" to 1/2" to spare between the tire and front flare. :fingerscrossed:

Looking for some input on color for the new tube flares......

The armor and the fenders are going to be painted to match, so I used some blue tape to simulate that.

The debate is on the flares, body color, bare aluminum, metallic silver, or satin black.

Here's a little visual

I like body color on armor and aluminum color for flares. To me black it too much with black tires.

I like the look of the first pic. So either alum or silver ish color is my vote [emoji6]

Fenders and armor are off, Jeep is out in storage................

And temporary booth is almost done

What color are you leaning towards Jeff? You can always wait and let your preferences settle if your not sure.
My :twocents: I like all the same beautiful blue. Nice work! Thanks for sharing the journey with us.

I've had a mixed bag of opinions on color. I keep this thread and one on our private Two Tracker forum up to date. Between the 2 a majority have said black flares, but a very close 2nd of body color. I still can't decide. So the plan is to paint them all blue, clear them, and reinstall. At that point I'll decide if I want to paint them black. maybe they'll stay blue till they get trail scuffs, or brush scratches, then be black..............right now I can still be undecided.............

Is that a harbor freight canopy ? I see that is on sale for 119 right now if that's the case.
