Never Ending Scrambler Build

Now that the electrical is done (for now) I can move on to the front bumper.

I have and it works really good as long as you have some good cutting oil and a strong well supported head on your drill press. I use mine all the time at the shop. It's one of my top 10 tools for sure.
 
I'll definitely look into it. Just cutting (2) 1/8" plates took at least half the life from the whole saw. Thanks.
 
You'll throw away those old school hole saws that cut a larger hole size than indicated.
 
Before the snow came in I got the body filler work done on the dent. I got her primered with filler primer. The builder did a bad job with the bumper (heavy grinder marks), that's probably why it was painted with flat black and then someone came along and shot it with bed liner. GPS are several satellite signals cross referenced by the receiver and a metal building will obstruct the signals. Same thing with modern aircraft when we have them in the hanger. You have to wait until your outside to receive the satellite signals.

Gauges look very nice!
 
Thanks guys, when spring gets here I'll pusher outside to get a better look (and a signal). I was just surprised that it wouldn't cycle and go to zero.
 
mysunnshine, thanks for the tip on the rotabroaches. I watched a couple of videos on youtube and was very impressed. I will be getting a set.

jammer1, I had the same problem with replacement turn signals. Was a pain to track down the problem.
 
We can now say " Been there and done that". Glad you were able to get it. I'm in agreement on the rotabroaches.
 
Painted the bumper and found it has more dust in the paint than I would like so I sanded down the dust nubs so it's ready for paint. There was so much dust in the shop that I ended up blowing the dust out the door. Two hrs. later I got most of the dust out and what was left in the air settled.A few yrs. ago I bought a seat frame that can go forward (like the pass side seat) for the driver side. After taking a better look at it I found rust that he painted over so I removed the rust (yesterday) and strayed on metal prep for overnight. Today I also noticed the handle to flip the seat forward was bent like the original (pass side) so I cut 1/8" steel plate to weld on. Got it epoxy primered and ready for paint. I'll paint it with the bumper tomorrow (part of reason I didn't wet sand the dust out, just easier to repaint than to wet sand and buff).P1090549.jpgP1090550.jpgP1090551.jpgP1090557.jpg
 
Those turn signal lights are wrong every time. Been down that road too. Every single crown or omix parts for cj's has a feature that is wrong or looks wrong. I just don't get it.
 
You got that so right. Even the heater cables (new) broke when installing. At least the wiring gave me a chance to brush up on wiring and the schematic. Last rebuild (cj7) was around 8 yrs ago.
 
Got a little bit of time to work on the scrambler today. Got the front bumper mounted. Just need to replace the one grade 3 bolt with a grade 8 bolt (ran out in that size). Also installed the roll bar. I touched up the bottom of the seat frame bracket (where bolts held up for painting). Will be ready to mount tomorrow. Tomorrow I also need to fix the headlight that blown on me. Also in the next few days I need to start the repair of the paint (crack behind drivers entrance). Just been putting this off.P1000491.jpg
 
I sanded down the crack and found that the filler lifted. I think I figured out what went wrong. I did the body work on the sides (including the inside of the tub) then put on a rotisserie. I removed the body braces under the front of roll bar and then used the rotisserie. I believe the body flexed. Not enough to crack the paint but enough for the filler to loose it's bond. The crack happened along the b pillar's lip (where spot welded). I decided to pull the patch that I was going to put on to help stabilize the side. The crease is less than 1/8". After the patch was on I would have put a very thin skim coat of filler. I don't trust such a thin amount that it probably will ghost. The crack in the filler was because of the movement when the braces were off on the rotisserie. Took her down to metal and put a coat of duraglass, then a coat of body filler. Did final primer and sanding. Got the side painted along with the glove box and cowl vent. Not the best (painting is a work in progress). I'll be color sanding (orange peel). Was going to fire up the propane heater and found out I just ran out of propane (usually the tank lasts the whole winter). Pulled the plastic and tape. Came out fairly good except for the dirt in the paint. Will have to wet sand to clean up the dust and orange peel. Also the paint is a gloss white while the rest of the jeep is a duller white (same paint). Hopefully the color will match better after the sand and buff. Also painted the MC.
