That "Brute" is exactly what I would want if they tried to make a new version of the scrambler. It needs a roll bar though. So far that is the only prototype that I like, what I would want if I had a choice would be a TJ with the exact same dimensions as my scrambler and have the top the same dimensions as my half cab, and finally a newer style of roll bar. I wish I had a computer editing program and could use it properly, if I did I could make a picture of what I am envisioning. So far, though, the "Brute" is the best I have seen....I want one
 
Sure I agree on sticking with mine, plan to NEVER get rid of it. However I do like the 4 door TJ, to me it looks like a fun family Jeep. Much better than a limp Liberty.

Any way Panther this is a good find. I really think this is sharp also. I never liked the front end of the YJ Wrangler (to square for me) but have liked the TJ for the last couple years.

I for one really wish they would call it a Scrambler again. I know I know most of you don’t think so BUT think of it this way; the heritage of our beloved Scramblers should be known. Non-Jeep users or 'new' owners wouldn’t know that it was copied from our great rides, unless it is called a Scrambler and is/could be marketed as the great come back (or something like that). We all know how car manufactures these days LOVE to bring back the old models in new skin.

For sure the name Scrambler is better than that silly BRUTE.

Man this I like. I've been looking it over and it’s cool. The roll bar is actually on the inside in a "cage" type. If you look at the large file picture of it you can see it.

If you go to the site and click to list the photos by most views, you have all the girl photos and right in the middle of them all is this Brute. Maybe some one will figure that out as well.

This in a V-8 would really be hard to pass on. Surely it has to have some towing capacity????

In the background of the picture I am attaching to this post you can see part of a side profile of the brute. You can see that the half cab has several more inches between the back of the door and the back of the top, kind of like that black one with the wood bed rails on this thread. The top needs to be just like a scrambler, it would look better. I did see the in cab roll cage, but part of a scramblers look is the exterior roll bar, which is why i think the Brute needs one. And it or a scrmabler look weird without an exterior rollbar. The brute kind of reminds me of the Toyota FJ45. On another note, I wonder if AEV stole my idea??? I had emailed them in the past about building a TJ version of the scrambler, but they told me the roll bar situation was an issue. I never got that serious about it because I couldnt afford one of their conversions.
Now if Jeep makes a new TJ type Scrambler and they call it a Scrambler, it wouldnt bother me a bit. I can't see how it would deduct from the value of ours, perhaps they would become more popular than ever and worth even more?
 
half cab designs

Here is my take on the length of those half cabs.. I'm taking a wild guess. I'll bet that they just hacked off the rear kickers of the factory rollbar and just left the front stock portion of the rollcage without redesigning the interior cage. The other factor to play into this is, the TJ seat sits further back inside the cab of the tub that a CJ seat does. This is partially because of how the dashboard is setup. In the TJ's the seats have slowly been moved further and further back inside the tub due to complaints from tall people buying/driving TJ's. My 97 is horrible at it.. I have hardly any legroom in the TJ. I drove a 2003 rubicon last weekend at that route 2002 in charlotte. I put the seat all the way back in that thing, and I felt like I was driving a caddy. Tons of room, but some of that was at the expense of the room behind the door opening. Thus.. The reason why they probably have to make that half cab on those TJ's a little longer than a CJ scrambler half cab. Again.. just my take on it..

Anyone want to take stabs if AEV actually fabbed that bed or stole it from a toyota FJ truck bed? The tailgate even looks like it may have came from an old Ford Courier/Mazda pickup.. remember those old tailgate latches?

I really like the way the tail kicks up like that. Of course you will have to place the spare some where else to take advantage of it, but I like it none the less.

I like the idea of a new Scrambler. I especially like the "Brute", it looks right, alot like the original scrambler with a little more, well, "bruteness" to it.
If a TJ-8 happens, we could tell everybody how far ahead of our time we were, as owners of the original!

I found out that the "Brute" is a concept "Jeep" from a company out of Missoula, Montana. This is not the DC concept vehicle alothough they have shown interest. Have contacted American Expedition Vehicles for more info and will keep everyone posted.

if i had 30k to spend on a scrambler, i would probably just call duffy at jeeptrix.com or at least someone like that and just build an awsome rig. after all i thought great jeeps were built not bought.

Hey guys,

This looks close to the Holy Grail. I like the brute and I like the 112" wrangler. They should combine the two. The Brute in pickup or hard top. Plain bed or with seats. Half and full tops. Plain jane no frills or loaded for the rich folks.

Man, this vehicle is real close.

Interesting information on the Dodge M80 concept. Its target would be almost exactly same as what this Brute is made for.

minimalist, stripped down, non passenger (other than the dog and my gear) kind of vehicle.

They even make mention of something possibly similiar branded as a Jeep..

I just wanted to bring this back to the top for those that haven't heard. Also we have been discussing this on cj8-list and it looks like it really is going to happen:
I confirmed through a few sources at D-Chrysler (old contacts- we use to supply products to them) and two local dealers that "all indications areJeep will release a 2004 Scrambler".

Allegedly, it will be based off the new TJ Rubicon, D44's front and rear with the lockers, and the 4:1 T-case.

So, start saving your pennies.......I have heard it will start in the low $30's.
