Only had the Scrambler a week, Moron pulled out in front of me

The stock equipment is definitly adaquate. It was probably a 25 mph roll, and it only rolled once, but the seatbelt and factory roll bar held great.

Once again fellas, to avoid problems for when you have to deal with insurance on a loss on your Scrambler...the best thing to do is get a "stated value" policy. You'll go through the same things up front (getting it appraised by someone that knows what they are looking at, etc...). But come time that you do have a loss on your Jeep there will be no question what it's worth and you don't have to worry about values and getting your Jeep back to the condition it was before the loss.

that is if its your fault. Like my case where there other guys ins. is out for the bill, you still have to deal with them not wanting to give you full value. I guess you've already got it appraised with a stated value policy, whether they take that or not is still up in the air.

Don't let JC see it. He will be over there as the Zen Master of Sawz-all for a Bob Job to fix you're bed issues.....

Glad you are ok and that the Scrambler looks in pretty good shape over all still. THe great thing about a CJ is the body parts are like tear-away jersesys. You can just pull the bad parts off and replace as needed....

No bob job yet, looking to put yj fenders up front, tj flares on front and rear, new bumpers. Gotta get a new Steering wheel and column ( I bent those with my massive strength(best Tim the tool man grunt)) I'm thinking about rebuilding the Beasty 258 while the front clip is off. While thats out might as well pull a new painless wiring harness through, and top it off with a custom aluminum dash with a full array of auto meter artic white gauges. My frined the body guy is a speedliner dealer, so obviously he has already jumped on lining the tub. I want to coat the bottom with something, Still pondering on that though. While the tub is off a daystar bushing kit w/ 1" body lift will go on.

If you need some help....

If you have to have comparable values (like stated before by BW off Ebay) I will send you the link to the one I just bought. I got it for $7500.00 (and I know thats not what you have in yours) but maybe it could help... Just looking out for you brother

thanks gw, go ahead and post it up here, thats almost what i have in it. I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for the adjuster to call me. Kinda scared that the ins are going to try and screw me. haha no not the ins. co. they wouldnt do something like that.

Well, In Arkansas If the vehicle is over 6 years old, there is no title destinction on repaired or salvaged vehicles. And they transfer to other states as a clean title. So I dont know if salvaging it will actually have an effect on the value, ( which in the situation that I would be selling it, I would disclose that it had been in an accident)

I had been told this, by a person who worked in a body shop...when they received a "totalled" car, they would sell it to someone in Arkansas, then re-purchase it. This would "clean" the title. Always sounded crooked to me, though...

Curious how Carfax would document...

How does this handle depreciation? If I have mine valued at $10,000 in 2005, will it be worth more or less in 2007? Do you have to have it appraised annually? What insurance companies do this (I have been told mine does not).

I'm an agent for Farmers and we do it. Not sure about others. My recommendation would be to have it done annually or whenever you think something significant has changed the value of the vehicle. On vehicles 25 years old, I think depreciation is sort of a moot point by then. After a certain age vehicles don't lose much more value other than some kind of damage or wear on the parts that would constitute a loss in value. For instance, if you picked up a '95 Honda Accord off cars.com chances are you could sell it for the same (or more if you bought it right) a year from now. So if your Scrambler is worth $10K today...I would imagine it's worth $10K next year. This is more of an opinion though...and it may be worth what you paid for it. ;)

Dang man that sucks. Where are you in Arkansas? I'm in Fayetteville and I don't like driving the Jeep up here since the roads have gotten so overcrowded in the last couple of years........

I'm from Paragoud

Friday, just befor I left on my relaxing deer hunt, the guy that pulled out in front of me's ins. co called and said that he says that he was barley in the road and I lost controll of my vehicle, so they are saying the wreck was my fault ( all of this is befor the police report has come out ), he even had the nerve to tell them that I recieved a citation for no headlights. No, I didn't have my head lights on , I had my sunglasses on, It was 7:30 befor the time change. JERK. However, the police report will show that no one but him was ticketed. just venting:mad: But in the unfortunant circumstance that they screw me out of fixing it, I was full covered by my ins.

So do you have a police report yet or not? You should be VERY careful here and make sure your story stays exactly the same and that you don't say or do anything that might help this guy out. If you are contacted by anyone I would suggest referring them to your insurance company for now. I had a situation where a guy cut me off, I flipped him the bird, and he rammed me and then left the scene. I told my story to the cops and the guy turned himself in the next day (the old "I got scared so I ran" defense aka "I was drunk and knew fleeing the scene is better than DUI") and said I was just sitting in the road and he wasn't paying attention. Only way I came out ok on that one was a witness called in and backed up my claim that the guy was at a full stop and accelerated to hit me after I passed him (he stopped as if to turn left, and then sat there even though no oncoming traffic so I passed him on the shoulder and he sped up and rammed me from behind as I pulled back onto the road). That witness's story matched mine to the T and when the guy listened to the tape of the witness he broke down and told the truth. He didn't have insurance OR tags on the new truck he's purchased 6 months before the wreck but I luckily had uninsured motorist coverage which gave me enough to piece my DD (Honda) back together enough to continue driving it. In the meantime my insurance (USAA) took the guy to court and won so he's paying them back out of his pocket. Sorry for the long post but my point is this; there are a LOT of scum driving around who don't follow the rules. The only way you can protect yourself from them is to carry a lot of insurance (which really ticks me off given that I'm basically paying for their coverage) and hope to hell you have a witness if something like this happens (and then hope the other guy has insurance). My first step if I were you would be to bug the crap out of the officer that wrote up the accident and see if he got any witness accounts of the accident. Request copies of EVERYTHING in writing and immediately forward all that info to your insurance company (they will get it all to the other guy's company). Good luck with the wreck and fixing up the scrambler. I rolled one of my CJ7's years ago that was worse than your scrambler and fixed it (still driving it as a matter of fact).

I got the police report this afternoon from the staion. All is well with it, thank God, Says he failed to yeild and turned in front of me. It still pisses me off that he told his ins. co. that I got a ticket, only after I contacted them(he didn't even contact them to tell them he was involved) Hopefully now that they have police documentation they will "pay up suka" (best jesse james voice)

!!!update!!update!!
