Postal striping or graphics ideas/input

I have a postal scrambler that I've been restoring. Paint and body work is finished, came out great. I am now ready to do striping and graphics. Need some input and/or ideas on what to put on. Currently thinking of using the original red, white and blue striping because I have obtained some of that material and want to get some letters made. (http://www.postaljeep.net/images/DSCN0288.JPG) What do you think, Scrambler or Postal or ????? on hood? Open to ideas. Also body stripe kits can also be developed from this material or should I use an existing kit? Really like the stripes on the roof of the overlander, does anyone know where to find that or templates for that stripe kit?

Any input is welcome, Thanks in advance!

There should be a lot of suggestions out there for the hood. I'll start with Gone Postal.

And for the hood: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...

I second Spieg on this. That would be LEGENDARY!!!!

I may be in the minority on this, but I think "less is more". I considered a lot of different graphic ideas when I was finishing my recent LJ-8 project, but ended up with just a simple emblem and small "Renegade" decal on each side of the tub below the "Jeep" embossing.

If you do decide to go with graphics, I'd highly recommend doing a "printout mockup". If you don't have a color printer you can get the graphics printed at Staples, and you don't have to be a great artist to make up something on your computer to simulate what you're thinking of doing. You can print everything on ordinary 8.5x11 paper and assemble the longer stripes when you stick the paper on the Jeep.

The RENEGADE lettering in the photo at right below was done on my computer and printed at Staples; they're held on with rubber cement (also from Staples); rubber cement won't damage the paint and comes off easily. The photo at left is an original Renegade, duplicating that was one idea I was trying out but after doing the lettering I decided to go with something much simpler.

Especially if you're thinking of doing something big and flashy, I highly recommend a paper mockup - it's much easier to peel off the rubber-cemented paper than to realize after applying real decals that you don't like the look.

If you need a PDF to simulate your stripes that you can print at Staples but don't have a way to create it on your computer let me know, I probably can help.

I saw a JK postal vehicle in town the other day that was white with red and blue graphics... Thought about this thread... But was working so I didn't get a chance to get a pic. I'll see if I can find it again in my pov.

None. Let the fresh paint and unique body lines do the talking. Keep it to the "Jeep" on the front fenders, and the badges on the back.

Does anybody know if the overlander stripes are being reproduced???

I highly doubt that they are, and if they are I would guess only in Australia.
