Got the jeep starting tonight under its own power (w/o starting fluid) but it won't stay running very long.

When I first brought it home it would only start with the help of starting fluid

Any suggestions.....?
 
Thats the 83 with no title for 1000.00 right? i saw that and i called him and he said you just picked it up

Well did some playing around with it again tonight, after work.

Thinking its the mechanical pump on the motor.

Will be changing that tomorrow and running a new line from the pump to carb.
 
Got it running!

Changed the mech pump and flushed the line from mech pump to fuel filter. Starts right up now!

Changed plugs and wires and got it running pretty good.

Gotta play with the carb a little bit; not much if it won't tune in right I have a nice motorcraft replacement with 10 miles on it sitting in the garage.

With that being said I won't play with the stock junk carb very long.

That's all for today.

I will be posting some pics of the inside in possibly a week or so. Gonna pull the crappy mixed match seats out and replace with all black seats. Remove the full top and put a half top on atleast for the summer and put the full top back on for the winter.
 
Yeah. Those old seats look a little rough. Bit the new ones look great.
 
Ok guys i need your help here

I drove the scrambler around the block for the first time since I bought it

Other then running hot ( found reason to believe the water pump sh*t the bed ) antifreeze isn't cycling though the radiator

Ok back on needing help part; is there a way to tighten the steering gear box?
Everything seems right under there including the steering shaft and the steering column.

But when I was driving it, it seemed to be lose and all over the road.

Any help on tightening the steering box?
