Well I have to say, you learn something new everyday if you are lucky.
Today I learned it is fortunate to be lucky in dangerous situations.
I normally pull the transfer case, then the transmission, then the engine.
I do this after hooking up the engine sling (for the transmission/engine).
Due to the fact that this frame was so rusty and the transmission is going to the same guy that the engine is, I was like... let's pull it together and get rid of the frame.
What I never expected was that the engine mount was broken... and not just one of them... both!
So, this was a change your shorts type of a moment.
I hooked up the sling... took a bit of tension off of the frame by jacking up the engine and then zipped out the passenger side engine mounts and the whole thing shifted towards me... frame slipped on the jack stands and the engine/trans ended up hanging on the engine hoist, but only held in place by the driver side engine strap...
The engine mounts were rusted through (gotta love the salt up here) and really the only thing holding this engine in place was the trans mount (which I had zipped off the 2 bolts)... torque mount wasn't really in play here.
So yeah... I learned something new.
Apparently both engine mounts can be rusted through and you might not know.
As for the frame... again, there is just tons of debris/rust coming out of this thing.
This thing was toasted.
I have probably taken a full 50 gallon garbase can full of rust/debris off my garage floor since the tear down.
