The vehicle was originally called the GP which stood for a military General Purpose vehicle. In the late 1940’s the cartoon character Popeye poked fun at it, calling it a Jeep and the same stuck

High back seats with base rims. I guess they took the spare off so he could hold on better.. And I believe that's a grab handle in back.

Our Scrambler has high backs and came wth those rims. Wish I could go back in time and get Dad to order an SL with 3.31's
 
I now have those rims on my 82 with baloney slicks in order to move it around. They are kind-of growing on me. I plan to paint it blue and those podercoated white may not be all that bad.
