Randyzzz Scrambler Restification Thread!

Still working out the "Little Stuff". The weather has taken it's usual fall turn, rain this week...so I have been prepping for the wet stuff, trying to keep the inside dry.

Interesting, I thought I would be able to do a "test run tire spin" on the wet pavement. This thing just hooks and gets with the program...minimal spin, throws you back into the seat, and you're gone. Not complaining...

Awe man, But it is kind of hard to get even the most powerful 4WD to do a four wheel burnout.

Cool Carputer! Wonder if there's a way to integrate with my in-dash monitor...

The soft top is a vintage Kayline.

Got the steering bracket today, mysunnshine. Thanks! I'll get mine sent out to you as soon as it's off.

Here's a couple of pics that aren't on level ground...

I wonder if you could blue tooth the transmitter to say a IPHONE and the use a video out cable from the iphone to the indash monitor. that would be a cool setup.

I'll be installing this Magnadyne unit in my Hummer in the Morning

Well, no photographic evidence, but I took my son for a drive and after several 0-80 quick passes, I lit the tires but good on our turn-around. Poor BFG's...they never stood a chance. There's no more nipples on the rear tires!

Prior to the show off session, I did get a rear bumper modified to fit. It's basically the same as the front bumper, I just added the D-Ring anchors and some beefy mounts.

I've been rethinking the permanent mount rear winch. The cool factor is high, but do I really need another 100 lbs hanging out in the back? Maybe an air tank back there, and make a winch mount that can slide into the trailer hitch (that I still have to build). That way I can bring it along when I think I'll need it.

And just to bring some flavor to this post... Jubelale is back in season!

like that bumper, looks clean and functional... reference a slide-out winch, Sheepdog has a home-fabbed carrier in his thread that looks pretty slick and may be what you're looking for.. mounts front and rear (no weight penalty until you actually carry it with you)

maybe for the rear winh you could go with a 6K # instead of a full on 9 or 12K, save about half the weight, and if you went with the short drum then even more weight savings and do you really need a full spool, full sized winch out back?

of the burn out..lol
Hey Randy it's about time to start thinking about paint.

I know, I know...

And paint? I think about it daily at the bare minimum...

The rear winch is an "icing" project anyways...I need to get the front winch, tire carrier, and some interior stuff done first. So I have a long time to work it out. Heck...I need a front driveshaft!!!

I'm partial to copper brown metallic.:D But on your jeep I vote for silver with black.

The box is out of a 76 Nova. It actually feels a little over-sensitive at center, but that could be my front caster. My angle finder put it at 3*, but there is no "return to center" after turning, so I think I need more. It is perfectly stable at speed, however. Just need some trial and error fine tuning.

So...I'm OK with the way it drives, but not 100% satisfied. I'd like more "feedback", like on my 00 XJ. I'm researching possibilities, there's a lot of ways to fine-tune a saginaw box.

From research, I think a fast ratio box with less assist would be optimal.

One plus of this steering box is that it is the old style that uses inverted flare fittings, so it's easy to make lines. When I relocate the box 1" forward, I'm going to attempt to run the lines up through ports in the crossmember instead of cutting out a big chunk of the trailing edge.
