RIP James Lupo/jimschopshop

He has that same expression in every pic that just screams 'He's fixing to make a smartass sarcastic comment". He obviously made a big impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I hope this is ok @bigwalton If not, feel free to moderate.

Lori got a "look at the new jeep I got you for your birthday/anniversary/Christmas" post on facebook every time Jim bought another beater to part out. Takes a special kind of woman to put up with guys like us, and hopefully we can at least take away the stress of paying to put Lupo to rest.

Thanks to Belcher for setting up the Go Fund Me.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lupo a couple times at the Abbott swap meet. We also sold and bought parts from each other through the years. A testament to the guy he was - I had posted that I needed some factory specific bolts (roll bar, visors, etc.) for my first Scrambler I was building years ago. He reached out and offered to send them to me as long as I paid shipping because "He loved what I was doing with the '81". I sent him some extra $, he sent it back saying to put it towards finishing it up.

RIP Lupo

Many times he gave me parts or gave them to me for way less because he would not let me pay him. He always said it will even out. I would like to think it did, but I know I will always owe him. For more than just the parts.

I was coming to make sure this was posted. Thanks for getting it up.

This news has hit me harder than I expected. I lost my dad last year and the realization that I’m getting older has me reflecting on the important things in life more. I first met Jim through this forum. Always a wealth of knowledge and smartassery. I liked him right away. I met him several times at Jeep swap meets and talked and texted regularly. The last time we were together at a swap meet at John Hollibaugh’s house it began to rain later in the day. Jim and I hung out in his trailer drinking beers and telling stories for hours. Just the two of us hanging out enjoying each others company and friendship. It will always be how I remember him. He exemplified the type of friend and person we should all strive to be. I miss him already.IMG_2424.jpeg

Exactly, this hit really hard @Polarfire - particularly in that he was SO proud (rightfully so) of losing all that weight... scared me something fierce.
He was definitely on the healthy path. I was very proud of him for his change of diet and losing the weight. He would tell me he would feel guilty for not having beers with us after wheeling so he would have a few. Then would work hard to undo his “slipping” afterward. I would tell him not to worry and he did not need to join in. But all in all, he was definitely on a healthy path.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said in this thread. Lupo was something else, what a great guy and those of us that knew him knew it for sure. What a shock, I too am still processing it. Call friends, go to the event or the ride, check in on 'em for no reason.... you just never know when might be that last time you get to see them or talk with them. Rest in peace, friend.
