SOA National for 2007...

There will be registration information posted later in a seperate thread. The committee just needs to work out a lot of the details and other information before the registration can begin. There will be a fee associated with the riding, but it'll be worth it I'm sure.

Don't forget, you can go ahead and make your hotel reservations now. This will help guarantee you a room at one of the better hotels.

Reservation Made

I am staying at the Windrock Campground. It is about 2 miles from the Trails and looks fairly new. They have tent sites as well as RV hook-ups. I am not too sure that you will get any closer to the trails. The lady is really helpful and please say that you are with the Scrambler Group and she will group us all together. Her name is Missy and her # is 865-435-3939 if you need to call her and make reservations.

Shoot Jerry, If Carl, I and you put all our spares in 1 spot we could probably build a couple or more Scramblers.
I'd say about six of 'em!! Especially if you include some drivetrains (engines, trannies, and transfer cases) that are sitting around some Virginians' homes. :D

Tried to do this by internet, but ended up calling and got my reservation in early at...

COMFORT INN
433 SOUTH RUTGERS AVENUE
OAK RIDGE, TN 37830
Phone: (865) 481-8200
Fax: (865) 483-6142
Email Address: tiarra.giles@broadwayhospitality.com

Which is further away than the campground, but still within minutes of the trails.

Phil, it shouldn't take so long for you to get to the trails now with that new V8?

True, hopefully not anymore! By the way, it's in and it's alive!

I seem to remember that it is 8 miles.

But the hotel could probably give you a better guesstimate. :)

Thanks for the lead on the hotel, i'll look into it.

Agree that it's about 8-10 miles to the trail. Most of it is nice dual lane road with only the last couple being narrow single lane road.

Comfort Inn was one of the better hotels. Nice swimming pool for the kids, plenty of parking in the adjacent mall parking lot for trailered rigs (though the hotel should handle most rigs), steak house across the 4-lane highway, adjacent mini-mall with Sears and other stores, etc. Been a few years since our club has ridden there, but it was very nice then and where I'll be staying unless I stay at the campground. (Hmmm, could haul the camper and let Stephanie drive the Scrambler, or just get a second tow rig. )

I want to know when the pre-runs will start taking place so I can have more than just one weekend of Scrambler fun. :) Yes, you can take this as an offer to lead/tail a group. Only had the Scrambler there once when I was still testing it out and had to limp out on the front driveshaft so we have a litte pay pack owed to it.

Looks like I'll be there, I'm believin' that I'll be finished with my '81 by then..... This will be my first and I've only met a couple of you, Bobcat and WildTurkey. Anyone else from GA other me and 2K1TJ ?

I plan to be there, Drew. Looking forward to seeing you again.

BTW, those ARB-equipped axles I got from you are under the jeep and working perfectly!

Great to hear that Mike; yours are doing just perfect as well but I'm still fiddling with a few things on mine, mostly cosmetic stuff now. One interesting thing I'm working on is trying to make a custom 1/2 soft top to go with my newly acquired half hard-top and 1/2 hard doors. I've never seen one but I think I've got if figured out if the upholstery shop can deliver. I'll let everyone know.
See ya'
Drew

I did sell one of them, still got the other. That's the one I've spent about the last 2 years messing with. Still need to finish some odds and ends, and post pics, but I hope to have her there.

If not, I'll bring the JK! Just put on a budget boost and some 34" Maxxis Bighorns!

What about RJ? Is he still around? I think he said he was gonna try to make it.

Scramvoy

Looks like the midwest is putting together a SCRAMVOY for the trip to and from. Looking forward to it. I already have the permission, the jeep and the time.

The best part will be meeting so many of you i've gotten to know over the years.

Hasta

After working on this year's event for the last few weeks, it is really starting to take shape and become an actual plan. It may not surpass Moab, but it will definitely be the best SOA National Event that I have ever attended! :D

Sometime around April 1, the registration package will be available. Hopefully the registration package will answer all those important questions of how much, where to stay, special early bird incentives, trail descriptions, rig requirements, tentative event schedule, alternative attractions, and so forth.

While the price and incentives haven't been ironed out completly, it does appear that the cost for this years event will be under $50 not counting extra shirts, extra meal tickets, or land use permits. But for the actual cost and what you get for that money, you'll just have to wait til about April 1.

Just wanted to give y'all a little up date.

So, is there still any excitement left for the National Event? Or have folks just been waiting around for too long and lost the excitement. Would anybody like a little bit of insider information?

Well, an anonymous source informed me that the Dash Plaque design for the event is almost finished. Found a spy photo of the draft design that is suppose to be close to the final product. It is suppose to be 4" x 1.5" and made out of 14K gold.

Have also discovered that the registration package is almost complete. A few final items need to be confirmed before they can be released but this will be worked out by this weekend. Meaning, they WILL be available next week.
