Which top do you like to run all the time?:

half hard top
full hard top
half soft top
bikini top
full soft top
or no top

I have all the options and just trying to decide what to run all the time or majority of the time...

Thanks

Chet

I like half hard top....doors remove weather permitting...and i remove the back glass in the summer...its like a hard bikini top....

In the ~6,000 miles I've put on the jeep in the last three years, I bet there hasn't been a top of anysort on it for 5,500 miles. Most of those other 500 miles where a top has been on it was just to see if I liked a top. Always seems that the top goes on to try it and then back off within a day or two. Not yet, but hopefully maybe that'll change this winter when the snow storms come to the south east.

Top

I run with the full soft top most of the time, and occationally run with a Bikini top (the jeep not me). It is never that warm, or cold where I live, fog in the morning most days. I roll the sides and back up and drive like that most of the time. That gives me the option of closing everything up when I take the kids in the Jeep (The little guys get cold).

I have only the half tops- bikini, soft and hard. I figure if I had to run a top for a majority of the time, I'd run the hard top, because here in Chicago, if I had to have the half-softie on in the winter, I'd freeze to death- the rear window on the soft top doesn't snap all the way across anymore.

bikini top

On my primary Scrambler, I've found that I run the bikini top more often that not. Good protection from sun on really hot days, but still open air. I have half doors that I run with it. Of course, I don't have half hard top on this jeep, only top option for me is the full soft top which goes on and stays on throughout the winter.

On my second Scrambler, which I'm currently redoing, I do have half hard top and hard doors. I prefer the look of Scrambler this way - truck cab style. So, I'm probably going to be a little torn as to how much I run it with cab on, and for how long in summer I remove top and run bikini. Since I live it South Carolina, I expect I'll still run it with bikini a lot.

From about late April til mid October I use a full soft top with roll up sides and soft doors. During the cooler months I use a full hard top and hard doors. If I could only have one top it'd be the hard top. I could still remove the doors and the side windows slide open for decent ventilation.

It's difficult to run any top with my roll cage. So I'm topless all the time. I would like to try and find a way to run a half soft top though.

Aloha!

I'm running the half hard top. It's cold here now so I've modified my soft uppers to fit under my half hardtop. Had to cut the frame and re-bend it to fit and now having an upholstery shop modify the fabric to fit neatly under the drip rail around the door. I'll post up some pix when it's finished. In the meantime I've got some full hard doors I'll paint and run.

I have a family and use my Scrambler as a daily driver. I need a full top and personally like the looks (not to mention durability) of the hard top. The nicest thing about the Scrambler full hardtop is that the rear glass can be removed and sliding windows opened...very similar to a safari type top (which I absolutely loved on my CJ-7).

Why did this pop up in a "new posts" search???

I now run a full soft top with the sides and back rolled up all the time.

I have a little aluminum "top" riveted to my roll cage above the driver and passenger seat. It works good and helps keep trees off my head.
