Hey Fellers,

Was just reading a pm from MuddEgg after I asked him the meaning / thot process behind "MuddEgg". His responce is as follows:

"MudEgg was just something I came up with from the facts that my -8 was frequently COVERED in mud and the name Scrambler always reminded me of scrambled eggs. I was also considering Scramblered Eggs, but thought it was too long."

My reasons are as follows:

Wimps81096: Wimp is more of a Mantra than a name. My life essentially revolves around my outdoor activities (cycling, hunting, hiking, snowboarding, and on and on). So a long time ago I adopted the mantra the "The World Is My Playground". Since TWIMP just sounds stupid, WIMP stuck. Got married and pluralized it to wimps, on august 10,1996 (8-10-96) so as to never forget and thereby staying out of the perverbial doghouse.

Where some of your names don't need much more than a mental midget to figure out (ScramFam, Greatcj8, Scramblerguy) Some of us have more obscure User Names.

I was just curious as to how they came about.

Whoa...you're deep, Scott. ;)

Mine...less profound. Many have wondered about it, but it's probably because I use the same username everywhere on the web. Here's how it goes.

* Mountain bike freak (subsequently referred to as "freak" for easier readability) buys several mountain bikes, the latter two $5K custom-built titanium models that are supposed to be the "end all" of mountain biking.

* Freak realizes that said high-end mountain bikes aren't everything they were sold to be.

* Freak decides to simplify life, save money, sell off the high end mountain bikes, and build an inexpensive (relatively speaking) Surly 1x1 single speed mountain bike (with "old school" rigid front fork).

* Amazingly, freak is riding local trails faster than he ever did on a geared, suspended (much more expensive) mountain bike.

* Hooked on single speeding, freak starts using the "1x1_Speed_Craig" username everywhere, and hasn't looked back.

* The MTBR.com Single Speed FAQ is my little claim to fame. Check it out if you get a chance. The simplicity of one gear is addictive! All of my single speeds (and other bikes) can be seen on my personal biking website link in my signature.

Okay here is the story.

"Truck" comes from the fact that my dad actually wanted to name me that when I was born. He grew up with an uncle "Chunk" and liked to sound of it but not the conotations. He has a strange sense of humor. In any case my mother said she would absolutely not allow it and wanted to name me Russell. The only family name she agreed to is Taylor after my dad's brother who was a marine in Vietnam at the time and they were unsure of his return. He did return and he calls me Jr. (He didn't have a son). I have since named my daughter Taylor, so it continues.

When one fine day I had some Air Force Academy classmates at my parents house one holiday (Thanksgiving I think) and the "story" was told. Of course I think a little drinky drinky was involved :p. At the time I had a 12" lifted, with live axle, F150 that I had put a 460 in and was running 40" tires. So my "friends" promised my dad they would make my callsign Truck and ensure they would make it stick. I fought it for a little while, however, in the AF the more you fight a callsign the more likely it is to stay with you.

So now I am known by all my coworkers in the military as Truck and many of my friends..To my father's joy and my mother's chagrin (sp). I use as a user name as often as possible and have come to embrace it. Even now have vanity plates for the Jeep and honda incorporating Truck.

So that is my story. More than you wanted to know, but there it is. And that got me out of 15 minutes of work..:D . What else can I come up with..it is Friday...:p :D :p

I was wondering where the "wimps" thing came from, but forgot to ask you last weekend!

Mental Midget will help you out with mine:

*****Hi. I am a mental midget (use your imagination to envision me). Matnic asked me to explain his user name, so here it is (hope you all can keep up with this explanation. I'll go slow):

His name is Mathew Nicholson (no relation to Jack, unfortunately). So for ease of typing and due to his lack of memory, it was shortened to matnic. Did you follow that?
*****

Thanks mental midget. I couldn't have said it better myself. Now you all know.

Do a search on "screen names" or "user names". We just did this a few months ago.

As I get older I seem to get called my full name more and more. Not just Tom, but always TomKeyes like one word. even my 4 year old daughter does it to me. So I just stuck with it. I'm a one of a kind. Thats good and bad....

I like TK though.

Thanks for posting the link. Would have done it myself, but just finally figured out how to post a link to an individual thread on this forum.

And I know that kid comment couldn't have been directed at me since I am the oldest of any who has posted to this thread so far. (Tom, it was very very close with you, 8 days.) I'm starting to feel . . . never mind I forgot what I was thinking about.

Great story Russell Taylor Massey aka Truck, that rocks....

Very interesting as well Graig...

As in the other post...

Mine is simply what my Lic plate says... no cool-ass story behind it....lol.

My Dad's Jeep

My screen name and plate come from the fact that this used to be my father's Jeep.

Obviously, it's a long CJ. My plate says 1 LNG CJ. But because my last name is Long, my non-jeeper friends don't get it. Is there anyway to get my title switched to my user name?

What's in a name

My name came from the fact that I fish out of kayaks here in south Texas and the model I first started out with was a perception prism. Now I have a tarpon 140 but kept the name. I should actually reset that, I used to fish a lot, now I work on my CJ8 a lot and fish less. I hope to go fishing more since the topwater bite is turning on and the flounder are starting their run. It also helps that I am running out of money for the jeep.
