It's time for all of you to help me decide on the direction of the first resin Scrambler build! Should it be stock, or mildly modified, or all out wild? I'll use this for my display model.

I've been gathering parts for this such as 35" BFG mud terrains, or 44" Ground Hawgs!, D60 axles (even found some resin 2 1/2 ton Rockwells!), LS V8s, big blocks, HEMIs...

I'm ready to start on the chassis build-up, then as I receive parts from the caster, continue on from there. This poll ends in fourteen days, then I'll start assembly. THANKS!

My thinking is that you need to show that it's easy to do something other than stock but without going so crazy that it's no longer easy to tell that it could be built as a straight stock kit.

Whichever way you go, if it were me, I'd build a little display that would show some of those other parts you found (and you're keeping a list of all the places we can go get them, right?) or the stock parts you didn't use in favor of a modified build. Sort of like a "mild-to-wild" showcase. So basically if you build it lifted on d60s with 35s, have the stock tires/rims, springs and axles sitting there next to it, all painted up.

Agreed! I will provide links & pics of all of the cool aftermarket stuff I've found, there's a bunch of it.

Over the winter, I will build R/H drive parts & a World Cab, then see if there is enough demand for resin reproduction.

I'm thinking a bone stock build with a showing of custom parts. That would give a truer showing of what the kit is. It's easier to imagine a custom build than a stock one.

Then we need to send in pics of our modified ones!:D

Hopefully soon, Sean...once I get enough parts back from the caster, and my username appears here in red, I'll be ready! :D

Here's a link for some really cool aftermarket parts...this is just the beginning of what's out there...look at his items, really nice stuff!

Here's his coilover kit...

If we want his cool parts though, we have to hit him up with emails & get him to find the time to cast his stuff again...I contacted him & he said he's just too busy right now...his name is Jake, he's on a few of the model kit sites...good guy!

And here are the 35" BFG mud terrains available...only $4.50 for a set of four! Here I have them mocked up on an old J10 glue bomb...

Here's a great resource chart from a fellow off-road modeler that really helps with parts availability...

http://www.magazinepublisher.com/models/accessories.html

and here is John's tire page...also invaluable info!

Since I have two test frames, I may build up a stock chassis, and a heavily modded one to display, then I can swap the finished tub between the two to show stock & modded.

I'm thinking old-school HEMI or viper V10 in the modded chassis :D

Been tinkering with the modified chassis mock-up, here's the powerplant I may use...Jeep is part of Chrysler now, right? :D

In the rolling chassis with stock axles with spring-over, 35" BFG mud terrains...

And with my old master in place, since I don't have any tubs back from the caster yet :banghead:

I think the old-school 426 HEMI will work out nicely for this. Has anyone ever seen one in a 1:1 CJ before? :smokin:
