2010 National Scramble: June 24-26th, Sparta TN

Just filled out the form but still need to send the check in.

Stephanie and I have to be at Clemson at 10am Sunday, so we may have to leave right after dinner Saturday.

We will definitely be camping and will try to get something at the park for convenience. Wonder if they will allow us to stay parked overnight in the parking lot. If not, our second choice will be a COE park about 20 miles away.

SOA Memeber

I went to the SOA web site and filled out the registration. The web site or some one will send me an email to let me know I can log iin an use the web site. Does anyone know how long until I will receive an email so I can use the web site and become a memeber. I am trying to do this so I can become an SOA member before I register for the 2010 Scramble in Sparta, TN.

Just got back from Golden Mountain, it seems to be a real nice place. They've been doing a lot of work and are still in the process of making more improvements. The large pavilion even has a fire place which should be nice for evening gatherings, picture viewing and B/S session. Also a nice play ground , fishing lake for the kids. They've got some real good trails. Jake was taking a lot of pictures, so I hope he'll post them up when he gets a chance. He was also GPS maping the trails to make a more accurate map and I think he will also have GPS coordinates if someone wants them.

Not sure what's going on with the email, but if you've registered with the SOA you can just go ahead and fill out the registration and put in the name/handle that you used when you registered with the SOA. It's no big deal if you haven't heard back officially yet.

SOA Membership

BigWalton, thanks for the words. I'll go ahead and send two checks in; one for memebership ($45.00) and another one for the 2010 Scrambler ($95.00). I think the SOA web site listed a guys name and an address to send both checks to.

I like pockets too John, But I think we're just dreaming, because pocket tee shirts are getting harder to find anyware.

Don

Totally available in all basic colors with pockets. I have to deal with this for my local club. Plus, you have to use basic colors if you want to be able to get the extended (big/tall) sizes.

love the shirt!

what kind of price break are we looking at for 10,000 shirts? ZING! haha. ill take a XXL

HELLO ALL!!!

how embarrassing... at the top of my login page says i havent been here since june 28, 2008. ive been out of the loop for far too long.

IM COMING THIS YEAR!!! WOO HOO!!!!

...am still working out with the old lady what day we can come down... its looking like getting there thursday evening, leaving sunday morning/afternoon.

heres an update if anybody is interested or was wondering what rock ive been hiding under. august 2008 i purchased my first house (at the age of 23) for my future wife melanie and stepdaughter julia. i got married to mel on sept 14 (the day of the only hurricane to hit ohio, thanks Ike). we drove off in the scrambler of coarse in good fashion and it DIDNT let me down on the way to the honeymoon! had no power at wedding/reception/honeymoon. and continued to have to charge my flashlights and cellphone at work for the next 7 days. in january 2009 i lost my job at Sweco due to the economy and struggled to get anything accomplished and pay bills for the next 8months. we got taken to court by julias biological father who was vagrant for the first 5 years of her life, so julia had to adjust to seeing him more often and we had to adjust to giving her up. {short side story for those who dont know, melanie got pregnant while a sophmore in high school, she graduated a year early and finished college by the age of 21, i came along right when julia was about to turn 3 and fell in love with both of them}. melanie has had it worse though, she has 3 college degrees from Miami U and is waiting tables at the local mexican restaurant because there are no zoological jobs to be found within 250 miles and in february she got t-boned in her cherry red 92 YJ by a 99 mustang power sliding through a red light at 50mph- no one got seriously hurt thank God. so all in all not a very blissful first year of marriage. obviously the 6th annual SOA scramber in hot springs was out of the question. im SOOOO mad i didnt get to go and missed out on meeting Ian from extreme4x4 and possible getting a split second of tv time. i scored a job at Rhinestahl in august 2009 fabricating tooling as the OEM mfg to GE Aviation. very exciting sounding, but the money and hours per week just wasnt there. i got a call back from Sweco in march 2010, so i have been back to work and working roughly 60 hours a week trying to play catchup with creditcard debt accrued over the last 14 months. so things are finally looking up for us, i managed to keep the marriage and the house despite the finacial hardships. some more good news, the insurance company gave us $4700 for the $1000 jeep that got totalled. so we went out and got a '02 WJ overland so we could tow the scrambler!

i look forward to seeing friendly faces and skinny dipping in water crossings! see you all in june!

Great to hear from you Sam. I hope when you come down for the nationals that Mel and the kids can be there also. Good to hear things are starting to go right for you.

Hotel reservations are made at Holiday Inn Express and registration/payment has been sent. Looking forward to a grand time and stealing ideas onhow to improve my Scrambler. Preperations are now going on for our annual trip to Moab next month.

Good to hear from you Sam. Glad ya'll are doing better. As soon as Bobcat comes up and gets my Scramblers running/built  I'll be down to nationals this year with my own rig.

Truck, if you were closer I'd be glad to lend you a hand, but it's 550 miles and 8hrs and 45 minutes away a bit too far. What do you need to get one ready for the nationals?

Reg complete

I just registered and will mail in a SOA membership check and a nat'l check too. I see that some folks are hoteling it, but is anyone camping (tent)?

We will be camping in the RV section of the parking lot I think. Received a reply today saying they should be able to accommodate me but wouldn't be sure til they went to the office. Gotta have the camper nearby so I can go back there to get those ice cream sandwiches. :D

If the campground fills up and you still want to camp, check out the nearby COE Campground Ragland Bottom. It is about 18 miles away and looks to be very nice. It's on Center Hill Lake.

I mailed in the SOA membership fee as well as the $$ for the nationals. I called the event site and reserved a camping spot from 23-28 June.

Here is a shot of what I'm driving although since it is about a 10 hour trip I may leave the trailer at home and just load the jeep on the car hauler.
