How hard was it to weave the bacon and then roll it up and keep it from falling apart?

Thick cut bacon makes it really easy, stuff I used was easily 1/8-3/16" thick.

The sausage wants to stay together, at least the one I used, if you used something more dry/chunky it might have been more trouble, so it was pretty simple.

Overall, the ease of making one of these was pretty shocking and probably NOT a good thing AT ALL for my future cardiovascular health!

We had the leftovers (everyone showed amazing restraint last night and we had 1.5 pieces left) with eggs for breakfast.... freaking UNBELIEVEABLE!

Bacon Loin.jpg
5 lb pork loin injected with a garlic herb butter solution wrapped in 2 lb bacon!
Going on the smoker after lunch!

I saw this somewhere else, looks great, but I just dont have the "heart" for it LOL

Eric,

We were in College Station this past weekend and went out to Sodolaks ( the inventor of chicken Fried Bacon). Had that as an appetizer and then one of their small (10" Dia.) chicken Fried Steaks w/ fries! Was in heaven. Of course plenty of cream gravy.

Was really good. Actually kinda didn't know what to expect, but I had to remember that Sandra and I were sharing the appetizer.

Thank goodness for Lipitor! :rotfl:

Man... this is cruel. I started a diet this week. OK, when I fall off the wagon this will be what I have. Oh well, lets go eat a granola bar...whoopiee.

Mass qtys of bacon cooked

Our church has a Mother's Day Breakfast every year. We cook all the usual items: eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, cheese grits, custom order omelets , fresh cut fruit salad and....Bacon.:bacon:

The normal bacon cooker guy was out of town, so I had to do it again this year. 18# of bacon was cooked and consumed. Also, 90 sausage patties and unknown number of eggs.

We use one of these tilt skillets to cook the bacon. The attached pics show one batch which had about 2# in it. Working over that thing was like getting a Bacon Grease facial!:rotfl:

Just thought Eric could appreciate mass qtys of bacon being consumed.

Pic of it just going in
