And getting close now on the sweet Speedhut gauges. Have the gauge side all done. Need to finish the dash side.

I can start the jeep and it'll pull 14.7 or so until the engine warms up it'll drop to the low twelves. Occasionally you can hear the belt start to squeal and actually watch the voltage start coming up a tenth of a volt at a time. As for the whopper-jawedness of the pulleys I'd say the alternator pulley is a little more than an eight of an inch farther forward than the other two. Maybe half a belt width.

If there is corrosion at your ground connection, it will heat up in a few minutes and cause more resistance, making the voltage at the in-dash voltmeter to drop. You could try measuring the voltage at the alternator or battery to see if it isn't higher there.

When it's running and putting out 12 volts, try spraying belt dressing on the belt and see if the volts jump up to 13 or so volts. The higher rpm when it's cold might be putting enough pressure on the belt that it grips tighter (slips less):fingerscrossed: It would be nice if it's something easy like that.

Pulled out this morning flat towing my '85 from Cookeville , TN to Alexandria, LA (13 hours) behind a 4runner. At 65 mph began fish-tailing so backed off to mid 50's , with same outcome. Turned around and returned to Cookeville and put her on a trailer and will drive tomorrow. Jeep currently has BDS wrangler 3.5 inch springs and 33x10.5 at's. The jeep has been towed between Mississippi and Colorado a dozen times in a more stock form, without issue. Anyone have flat towing issues with a lifted -8?

Replaced the alternator... replaced the battery last week (put in a DieHard Advanced Gold AGM 34R). Alternator gave up the ghost after 5600 miles...

Since we've moved to San Diego I've been driving the Scrambler to the office a fair bit (not your typical office) and always taking the kids to sports. Like this afternoon at the ball park till the sun went down... great day!

Turning the corner. Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. Looks really nice.

I'm no help, but this should be in its own thread, not buried in here. Hope you got the Scrambler where you needed.

Well ordered the gear install master kits, Master cylinder, wheel cylinders, Body mounts, and Blazer blower motor today. The pile of parts is ever growing. Just waiting for better weather to start (at least this week has been nice, other than the storms tonight).
