My old 1981 SCRAMBLER returns 25 years later

Went out in the dunes today.

Had to go real easy . no bump stops, and and the drive train only has 140 miles on it.

Ran around for about 45 minutes, did all the hills,* never went over 20 mph, or over 3000 rpm.

Looks better than it did on your first go around with her :woot:

Another piece showed up today

1st time I spent the extra money and got a personalized plate

25 years later

Nice!

2, proofread and cleared by the NSA.

Tied up a few more loose ends this week.

New fuel sender (to replace the new one that came in the baskets) now the gas Guage works.

All 4 shock mounts on the axles are lowered so I've got up travel.

Rear bump stops installed

Longer shackles on the rear, lifted the rear 1/2" to level it.

Did the 500 mile change on the rear diff fluid

Added a 3rd bow to the bestop

Now more driving

A couple of updates

I got my Craigslist Ramsey winch from a couple years ago painted and mounted

Also made it to four digits on the odometer on the way to Silver Lake last night

After a couple adult beverages I was calm enough to attempt the hood decals.

The 14 year old collins brothers decals gave alot of trouble peeling the transfer paper off.

Not sure if they're in the factory location

But they are on.

Been a while since I've updated

I've been put about 4000 miles on the scrambler this summer. Having fun driving it, but I was getting tired of the bias ply tire pull on uneven roads. I wanted to try some radials..........

I found some 2 in wheel spacers on pirate and bolted on the 235's :bacon:

can you feel the difference between the tires after driving with both?

Night and day difference. The radials run way smoother, don't pull side to side on uneven road, and it will "coast" now.

But it doesn't look as cool

Maybe I should just use the 60, 14 bolt, links, and 38" Nitto's and sell the Dynatrac 44's :smokin:

Hmmmmmmm

Dirty.............I can deal with...........easy to wash

Brush scratches on the soft top.........just take it off first

skid plate and axles scares.............who's under there anyway

brush scratches on the paint.......:eek:.........hmmmmm.....6 coats of clear............maybe it'll buff out................

The latest plan is put the 60, shaved 14 bolt, front coil overs and 3 link the front. leave the leaf springs in the back. keep it as short as possible with the truss on the front
axle and still have good up travel. Which looks like about 4" to 5" inches taller than now, and run some 37x12.5 tires with 5" backspace. That will put the tires about 1" out the flares.

you can see the truss in the pics of the Beast on the first page of this thread

That's quite a plan!

Had to park the Scram for the winter :banghead:

That means it time for the winter "upgrades"

The axles should be out of the Beast this weekend

And I dove into unknown territory....................

I bought 2 14" Radflo coilovers for the front.........................

And some bling for all 4 corners

And NO I don't know how to tune them

More pics when they get here from southern California
