Colorado Bound Scrambler

You know, Colorado isn't that far from Oregon. Drive it up here, fly home. Give me some time, fly back and drive home. Easy! I've even got a pretty good source for lo mile 5.3's!

I'm serious- let me know if you're interested.

That thought has crossed my mind... Still working a few things out but I'll pin that thought for later discussion!

Just got done with a showing and had 3 other callers last week. We're crossing our fingers!

Wish you the best of luck, it was so stressful when we sold our last house.

Your last house in CO, b.b.? Cripes - I was gonna say at least if you ever had to move FROM Colorado it wouldn't be that hard. When we moved last year, my place sold in less than a week. It was great, because we had found a place in Kansas and needed to seal the deal quick...I mean great other than having to move to Kansas.

When we moved to Black Forest in 2012 the housing was just starting to come back , we had it on the market for about 3 1/2 months.
The new places payment at the time was double what the old house was , I was eating Tums like it was candy. I was in my old neighborhood a week ago and one of the neighbors sold his house in 24hrs for more than his asking price !

Update... We accepted an offer on our house!!! If all goes well we plan to close the end of May. My sister has some close friends who are renting a house and will be moving July/August and we may be able to slip in before it goes back out on the market!! 🙏🏻 :bacon:
Next up................. Vortec swap........... Maybe........

Well crap! Our buyers backed out on the house sale about 2 days after my last post here! Which really sucks because we might miss out on the rental in Ft. Collins now... Also there's a potential job opportunity that might be coming up there as well that I hope I don't miss out on... But there is good news... My wife is pregnant!! After 2 miscarriages (2nd one causing surgery and 2 days in the hospital) we are super excited (but still cautious...) it's basically the only thing keeping me sane balancing out the house sale crap...
But with a baby on the way it's making me rethink some things about the move and the Scrambler/vortec swap/emissions dilemma... Before, moving with no permanent housing or solid jobs and the Scrambler issue wasn't so scary. Now we have to take care of a little one so I am looking at what variables I can control.

So here it is.... I am considering selling my Scrambler so I can find another one that would be a better fit for the emissions regulations. As luck would have it I just stumbled up a nice one at a decent price (with a 258 and Holley CARB compliant fuel injection) that I am looking into. It's a little more than what I expect to get for mine but less than the cost of the swap. I may need a favor of a member to go scope it out cause it's a long way away but that's all I'll reveal for now about that one.
Also may be making a trip to CO soon to check out that job/talk to the landlord at the rental property to look into putting some money down to hold if for a month or two if we can line up another buyer before August. Also considering hiring a realtor so we can move before my wife gets too far along causing more obstacles.

Thanks for listening to the rant... There may be a blue 84 Scrambler posted in the sale section soon...

Sorry to hear about the house but congrats on the pregnancy. Hope you can get everything to work out.

Congrats on the kiddo... new parents have to re-evaluate/prioritize just about everything.

The housing market in Colorado is pretty crazy right now anyway. Great if you're a seller/landlord, but not so great for buyers/renters.

Congrats! Everything happens for a reason. Family first and everything else will work out somehow.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! My wife is 12 weeks along now. Still feeling anxious though until our next appt and ultrasound on Monday. Narrowing down our search for a realtor, which sucks because the fees we will pay to sell our house could pay for a lot of Scrambler stuff... I mean baby stuff! Also waiting to hear back from a fellow cj8.com member who is going to look at the smog legal Scrambler I mentioned above. God willing, there is still time and multiple scenarios left to make it out to Colorado for the training/job opportunities and to get into the rental with the right Jeep before the baby is born.

Update... Accepted another offer on the house. Still waiting on the inspection/appraisal... Another house just went up for sale in our small subdivision so I'm pretty sure we're going to make this one work no matter what the price so we don't lose out because of competition. If all goes well the closing date is July 31 and we may be able to slip into the rental now in FoCo after August 7.
Pregnancy still going good! Should find out what we're having on July 25!
Still trying to figure out what to do with my Scrambler. And now my wife is pushing for something with a back seat AND 4 doors. I'm obviously fine with a Scrambler with a back seat but... Maybe a Waggy is in the future if I sell my Scrambler...

Isn't it exciting  we're in a similar boat - I'm interviewing in Phoenix next week, and if things go the way we hope we'll have to fight to get our house sold here...more than likely we'll have to live separately until she can find a job, then rent our house here out and rent there until we can save up enough to buy a (2nd) home whilst renting the first. Wife's not pregnant (yet), though.

Tell yourself it's all worth it to end up where you want to be, though.

So after much back and forth feelings on the whole sell/trade my Scrambler for a smog compliant one... I've decided to hang on to this one until we get to Colorado and try to get it to pass emissions. If it turns out to be too much of a pain I will revisit the sale/trade option.
This brings forth new questions...

1- Who can suggest a good and reasonably priced auto transport company to get my Scrambler to her new home.

2- With the 4:88s, Dana 300 and 35s would the NV4500 be a good swap to get a better highway speed at better RPMs (may be looking at 37s in the future) and is there a specific configuration I should look for for my old 350?

I cant offer anything on the transportation issue unless its to my door. Willing taker here.

On the NV4500 would be a good swap and all the data is out there to do the swap. You may also want to consider getting a higher gear set like 4.11's or something along those lines.

The Dana 44 may start to have an issue with 37's. That is a lot of tire to be turning.

I am at capacity with kids and am looking for some new digs myself. Good luck with the house and kiddo.

Went to my buddy's to replace my front wheel bearings today which were completely shot. One done...
