Front fenders fit. It's like the CJ 8 was made to fit a JKU frame!! We haven't stretched the body at all, or moved the fenders out, just moved the rear wheel wells. We kinda thumb gauged the front end, (thumb in air, one eye shut, whiskey in the other hand, "yea, I think that'll work" type guesstimate) when the body was placed. Turned out like we knew what we were doing.

Front ends fitted and mounted. Now the body has to come off to be welded out. Picking up a bunch more parts soon, so we can get started on the next phase. Still gotta mock up the ORI's for the front too

Thanks Jim! I just took a picture of that. We definitely didn't go 10 gauge, or 1/8"!!

Holy effing crap... where do I start?

1) You, sir, are fully awesome.

2) This whole project is fully awesome.

3) You mention whisky, that is fully awesome.

4) I'm coming to wheel with you in this thing because your wheeling pics are fully awesome.

5) This warranty deal at 4WP is new to me, that alone is fully awesome.

6) 4-0-1. So utterly fully awesome.

7) Fab porn is fully awesome.

8) Holy build speed, Batman. Fully awesome.

9) Burning JKU, not awesome, but still fully awesome.

Mainly, I'm just pissed that none of my good buddies on here didn't alert me to the presence of this fully awesome thread. I know I've not been around much, and I'm a slacker, but this should have had someone, nay, multiple people beating down my door to drag me in front of the computer to bring up this thread...

Holy. Effing. Crap.

You finish this. You make it to EJS. I'll be there in my AK Postal covering the event for the EJS special issue of JPFreek Adventure Magazine (http://currentissue.jpfreek.com) You and I are going to get together to get photos of this thing to put it in my magazine. It must happen. You'll have a PM with my contact info and other details.

I can attest to BW being pissed no one told him about this. I just woke up to a barrage of texts about this Jeep build. And I agree... FULLY AWESOME!

BW must have been in a JPFREEK underground bunker for 2 months, or he doesn't use Tapatalk and swipe for updates while in the sitting position surrounded by porcelain, or both...

EVERYTHING for me is JPFreek.

I don't expect folks to keep me up to speed on everything that happens here or even pretty cool things, but THIS merited a heads up.

The CJKU-8 FTW!!!

Seriously, outside of maybe MPG (and assuming there's some form of EFI for trail-proofing the engine, but even if it's just a really good off-road carb) I'm struggling to come up with something that this Jeep will be missing when it'd done that would keep it from taking the title of "The Coolest Jeep I've Ever Seen."

Really, struggling hard.

Honestly. Other than making it easy to put pictures in posts, I rather seriously hate what Tapatalk has become.

Let's have more CJKU-8 now...

So BW, tell us how you really feel about this build.[emoji12]

This build IS awesome and happening very fast.

I tell it like I sees it.

Unless you don't like the CJ-6-ish proportions of the rear wheel well position (and I don't have an issue given the practicality of the departure angle improvement it creates), what more could this build have?

There's a reason that the JKUs are on every trail everywhere being wheeled to beat all, they just plain WORK off-road. Old Jeep purists may not like the look, and for good reason, but anyone who has driven them off-road or seen what they can do in person with shockingly little work knows they're performance is superior in every way to any previous Jeep with a similarly small amount of work. A Rubicon JKU with a 2" budget boost, swapped on flat fenders (no cutting, just bolt on), a regear and 37s and you can take on pretty much anything anywhere. Jeep got the underpinnings of the JKU right and the Pentastar was the last piece of the puzzle.

Yes, they have inherent weak spots, yes the front axle housing may snap, yes the factory ball joints suck, yes there's death wobble issues as they age, but every Jeep in history has had things wrong with it from the factory.

What we have here takes care of every possible issue with a JKU and gives it a dead-simple driveline with CJ looks. You can drop Hemis and LS motors into a JKU, but it still looks like a JKU and has computers and wires and ABS and.... You can swap in a Cummins but it still looks like a JKU.

If nothing else, it's fantastic because coming up with something that I haven't seen yet on a JKU is a rare occurrence!

I'm in love with this build.

When I go on this site, I click on new posts, and click on Mikes Mongrel first. This is the build to watch. How could you possibly miss it?

There's a fundamental flaw there. It requires coming to the site.

I, sadly, go many, many days between getting on here. Like today, if I start in on it, I end up spending way too much time here :banghead: :rotfl:
