What did you use to take the paint off? I've got a nutmeg one that was painted black.
 
I have explained it before, but it is a lot of elbow grease, scrubbing, some combination of paint stripper and goof off, orange cleaner and windex.
You just can't leave anything on there for very long and it is a very long and tedious process.
