Official CJ-8.com bourbon thread

I have a bottle of the Reservior Burbon, not the RYE but i like it a lot.

I won a lottery down in Fla and had the Father in law pick this up for me. Wife is going to retrieve it during spring break

You and Pappy Van Winkle need to come up and visit Sanblast ten this year.

Found the Ben and Jerrys Urban Bourbon ice cream.

Bourbon is in the caramel in it and I'd heard it was a little weak so I just poured bourbon on it.

It was pretty spectacular. If you've never tried bourbon on ice cream, give it a shot (pun intended). This flavor just happens to go with it great.

Opened the Blanton's that my wife got me a while ago. Very good. Better than Basil? I will need a glass of that next to compare. ;)

I'd take Blanton's myself. Love it. Father in law used to get me a bottle for Christmas each year and I love the flavor (and the bottle/stopper if I'm honest)

I knew this existed but had never seen it to buy until today.

This is a very complex drink. Starts smooth and a little woody and finishes with some spice, bite and smoke. I like a whiskey with some bite so I'm really, really liking this. Reminds me of one of my favorites: Four Roses OBSK recipe (IIRC) for a lot less money. I like that it's a Michigan distillery too. I can see this becoming a staple bottle along with the Jim Beam Double Oaked that's been my other recent cheaper favorite.

Also found a Double Black (double barreled) Johnny Walker at the same store that was new to me. Didn't buy it, but it's going to have to be tried soon too. It's a VERY good time to be a brown liquor fan.

A very interesting and informative thread. I recommend that you try George Dickel white label. This is a sour mash whisky, which has been a staple for me since college days, which was 20 years before my Scrambler was born. Nothing like strolling down Bourbon Street with a Powder Horn bottle of George Dickel looped through your belt!

So I am by no means an expert like some of yall and actually prefer Irish Whiskey. Here is my day to day.
While I like Jameson the caskmates is awesome.

Today was my wife and my anniversary and this was what my wife brought home for me. Pretty awesome similar to the Caskmates. I still like just a splash of soda but it is proving easy to drink.

I love Macallan. I typically save a couple bucks and go with 10 vs 12 (always prefer the 12). Last night I tried Macallan 21, very smooth, very expensive.

Overall, still would go with 12.

That is some good stuff.

My wife almost bought me a Macallan sample set for my birthday, which included a sample of the 25 year old. Actually wasn't terribly expensive for the set, but shipping added $100, so I got more ATV parts instead.

Makers Mark on the rocks tonight.

Going to try this new Irish soon. 62% 😃 but it's aged in Bourbon casks

Oh yeah. Macallan is one of my go-to scotches. One ice cube or a tiny bit of water  That and a nice cigar = heaven on earth.

I finally uncorked the West Cork. It is pretty dry and almost had a Tequila flavor. One cube. It's unlike any whisky I have had. I think I will need 2 or 3 more before I can give my full review. I am no lightweight but this stuff does packs a punch.

Ok. Two drinks in and 124 proof whisky tastes more like whisky than tequila. Starting to like it. At $54 a bottle I was hoping to like it.
