Refurbishing an old set of wood rails. No stain, just old, weathered wood came out darker than the new wood spacer blocks.

I would sand those down and start over the product you used made them way too dark it will not look right. All the factory did is clear them.

These were quite weathered to start- if they’re the set I’m thinking of. Considering how they looked to start, I’m thinking pretty good!

Thanks @Randyzzz for posting the before photos. Yes, those are the ones I got from you years ago.

The product is clear finish. In photo below is a block I cut for upright with same marine varnish as upright with both sitting on top of unfinished lumber.

That is wierd how that finish made them so much darker. They probably don't look as dark in person as they do in the pics. I think they'll look great.

Ordered new seat covers for seats. Color is close enough to nutmeg. The piping is same as seats vs original is darker.

So it would appear that rather than doing a "ground-up" restoration you're doing more of an "inside-out" restoration.....

Seat ready before and after… the original fabric seemed higher quality but had cracked and had darker pipe. Overall, much more useable and ready for another 30 years

Those looks awesome. That's really great that someone is making replacement covers.

And maybe the factory piping wasn't so dark when new. It might have darkened through age.
